We have been here each time we visit Alvor which is probably every other year for the past 15
We are lucky to have travelled to many countries in the world and as a result have visited many restaurants pound for pound or euro for euro Green Doors is probably the best restaurant in our world.. so far!

Came to this restaurant 5 years ago and it was beautiful. We returned 5 years on and it was just as excellent as before. Beautiful food and atmosphere and the staff were very accommodating for us with our baby when the restaurant was bustling. Food was so tasty and filling and the prices are very reasonable for the quality. Definitely recommend 110%

Do not miss an opportunity to eat at the Green Door! The freshest of food cooked in Portuguese style. Friendly staff and a fantastic surrounding. Make sure you book and get a seat downstairs!

By far the best place to eat in Alvor. A lovely authentic Portuguese restaurant. The fish rice and cataplana are delicious! The owner and waiter are super friendly. This is our favorite place in Alvor!

If you want a local restaurant that isn't pretentious but yet full of Portuguese charm and flavoursome food with a genuine sense of knowing how to look after your needs and wants then look no further than the Green Door. When the food arrives to your table all you need to do is eat it, the seasoning is already perfect. My family of 3 was recommended this restaurant by a little lovely Irish Couple we met at the Sunset Bar and although we didn't make a reservation they asked us to come back 30 mins later and we are so glad we did. Thank you for a memorable dining experience.

Great service, fantastic fish, standard Portuguese beers.
Recommend booking downstairs as the upstairs requires scaling some rather steep stairs. Owner is a football fan, could talk for hours about the beautiful game. I go annualy.

Restaurant très sympa caché dans les ruelles derrière une rue très animé.
La nourriture y est très bonne et de qualité !
Et le service est très bien.
Nous avons même eu droit à un serveur qui parlais français !
Si vous êtes dans le coin, n’hésiter pas !

Buen sitio para ir en alvor, no es caro y la comida y el pescado es fresco , las gambas y las navajas muy buenas. También pedimos atún , que venía como suele ser típico en Portugal con su patata cocida y sus verdiras, y la carne de la casa, para mi gusto muy hecha pero con muy buen sabor, acompañado de patatas y ensalada.
Trato correcto y amable, el pero que le pongo , es que casi no nos puso pan, ni un trozo para cada uno, y al pedirle más , luego nos lo cobró también, no es por el hecho de cobrarlo si no por ser raquíticos en la puesta.
Tiene 2 plantas, y arriba se suele estar bastante agusto.
Hemos ido unas cuantas veces y es un buen lugar.

Our experience was not a big deal. Maybe the food chosen was not the best choice. Nevertheless, the staff is very helpful and polite. We asked for the cataplana de peixe, it has a lot of fish, of the same kind of fish. Other options look good. Maybe next time we will order a different thing.

En una calle que baja al mar. Te sirven muy rápido, buena calidad y buen precio. Mucho cliente inglés. Hablan inglés y algo español. Tienen un trato excelente con todos los clientes.

Atmospheric, old style, traditional ..BUT...the food bland and nothing out of the ordinary. Portions on the small side, nothing exceptional about my tuna ...BUT.. worst of all were the smallish portions of vegetables... absolutely sodden /grossly overcooked.
Owner didn't seem to care, hadn't heard of 'al dente'....
Not exactly inexpensive either. wouldn't recommend it

Le poisson du jour, le Loup, très bon, beaucoup d'ail, très bien préparé, beaucoup de sel pour moi qui en prend très peu, mais c'est la culture du Portugal, beaucoup de monde qui attend, c'est un signe.

Cannot fault The Green Door. The owner Francisco is very helpful and friendly and the meals are superb. It is an old style taverna and the atmosphere is fantastic.

The Green door is one of our favourite restaurants in Alvor. Hidden down a side street it isn't the easiest to find but it is definitely worth a visit. It was recommended to us about 15 years ago and since then we have recommended it to everybody we know in Alvor. The seafood dishes are amazing and I love the Portuguese style steak too. I would recommend sharing the garlic prawns with rice as a starter and a grilled fish for main course.

Seid nun mehr als 20 Jahren unser erster Anlauf in Alvor. Man kennt sich mittlerweile Persönlich inkl. der Familie. Haben dort schon viele schöne Abende verbracht. Noch ein kleiner Geheimtipp in Alvor am Ende einer kleinen Gasse gelegen. Lecker und noch Authentisch. Toller Tagesfisch / Muscheln in allen Variationen. Vorsicht bei dem Medronho aus der Plastikflasche. Grins. Wir kommen immer wieder gerne. Macht bitte noch lange so weiter. Auf die nächsten 20 Jahre. 10 Sterne.

Por el momento es el mejor restaurante que hemos estado en Portugal en base a calidad de la comida (muy buena) atención de los camareros (super atentos y serviciales, en todo momento haciéndonos la cena agradable recordándonos la comida y cantidad) y precio (magnífica calidad / precio)

Like the rest of Alvor - unfortunately - hurried service customers are like cattle. Emphasis on 'getting them in and getting them out' rather than in quality of food/service. Would not serve this food to a pet. Poor

Tourists upstairs in less salubrious surroundings and occasionally forgotten about.
Couldn't understand the hype, but i am a tourist!
