Around the corner from our Air BnB. Absolutely loved the place! Each of the 7 organic salads were amazing, the poached salmon was the best I’ve ever had, and the caramelized basaltic onions were great! Oh, and being a dessert person, the selection and quality were the best! Go!!!

Geweldige menukaart, veel keuzes ook voor vegetariërs en mensen met glutenallergie. De bediening is heel vriendelijk en de eigenaresse is heel tof. Ik zou het iedereen aanraden.

What an amazing gem of a place. It's situated in a small village called Praia de Luz which is about a 16 minute drive from Lagos in the Algarve. Chicca, the owner, is amazing. The food was homemade, fresh and delicious and the ambiance was lovely and excellent house wines too. We had an amazing evening and definitely worth the drive. We are so glad we went. Thanks for a great night Chicca. I wish we weren't leaving today as we would have been back tonight for dinner again.

It's a place with a lot of fuzz around it. We went based on reviews and well, I didn't really get as amazed as I'd wished. Food wasn't bad and for sure enough, but I'm quite sure there's better to be found. It's based on serving British people and let's be honest, Britain isn't necessarily known for its great food, so yeah, I do understand the great reviews and I don't say it ain't good, just too much fuzz for something ordinary, I had too much expectations.

Ambiance sympathique petit restaurant au tout est fait maison la patronne je pense nous a expliquer la carte en français sans qu'on lui demande lentree sublime avec de quoi manger ! Les plats au top je suggère le traver de proc qui était juste parfait malheureusement plus de place pour le dessert qui donne envie !

There was a good variety of dishes here and we were able to cater for the vegan in our group. Everything was colourful and freshens tasted good. The downsides to this place and the reasons we certainly won’t be returning are more to do with the service and the odd seating arrangements. People were queuing up outside but I feel that was more to do with the fact that the owner doesn’t allow bookings so of course everyone turns up at dinner time hoping to be seated and the place looks incredibly popular. It’s a clever trick but it was annoying as the staff were so busy it took us ages to get a drink or see the menu. The menu is another bone of contention. There is one. And it is a chalk board. So you could, as we were, wait a pretty long time to even see it. The staff didn’t seem knowledgeable about wine and couldn’t answer our questions. The food was fine though as I have said, the constant badgering of patrons to support animal charities we felt admirable if a little strange in that setting and we left not really understanding the cult of chicca (we had friends who fully bought in to it) as we found her to be slightly rude and the whole experience to be a bit odd.

Tolles kleines Restaurant. Super freundlicher Service, vor Allem von der der Chefin Chicca, die unglaublich sympathisch und authentisch ist. Ein übersichtliche Karte mit sehr leckeren Speisen. Die Getränkeauswahl könnte ortstypischer sein, das Ambiente etwas weniger kitschig (Elektro-Teelichter & Kunstpflanzen sind in diesem Ambiente unnötig) Der große Andrang macht es etwas laut.

Great place and one of the few places we found with more than 1 vegetarian option. There is a tasty variety if food to choose from for vegetarians, vegans, and gluten free. Also for breakfast and lunch.

Amazing food! Everything was fantastic. If you are in Luz you must come here. We came on a Sunday evening. Lucky to get a table for 4. Slow service though. Kinda the norm.

Great food, much more better than all the other standard restauranrs. Not just fish or meat with vegetable and potato. They do real cooking with lot of herbs and ingredians and their own style of taste.

Went there last night and had been told their food was excellent. Absolutely 100% accurate. Had the avocado and spicy lentil salad, then poached salmon with exciting salads around the plate, little bundles of couscous, rice, tomatoes, aubergine mini potato, white beans, and a large colourful green salad, (but could have had potatoes or chips). The dessert menu is extensive, so difficult to choose. Had the white chocolate and raspberry shortcake, with ice-cream on the side.Heavenly. Chicas don't take reservations, so go early (we went at 6.30) very friendly and efficient staff. Queuing up outside when we left, speaks for itself. Will be back again, for sure.

Read some amazing reviews and thought we would give it a go. What we was not expecting is some of the freshest most unique food in the area. Everything is cooked from scratch, and we had the duck which takes longer to cook but we'll worth the wait. No booking for a good reason... They simply don't need to! A must go for the area, and extremely friendly English speaking staff.

Très bon restaurant, un joli décor à l’intérieur des piments en suspension avec des petites led. L’équipe qui y travaille est très sympa très accueillante, parle très bien l’anglais le rapport qualité prix est plus que satisfaisant.
C’est un restaurant qui fait sans gluten et qui est végétarien.
Petit conseil lorsqu’on vous apporte les petits pains avant les entrées n’en mangez pas si vous ne voulez pas payer les 4 PETITS pains 4€.
En tout cas je recommande

Great food, but cramped space spoiled the experience.
The place is tiny with tables and chairs crammed in so tightly we were all uncomfortable plus the lack of adequate air con made it unbearably hot. No menus on table, just a server holding up a huge chalkboard while you feel under pressure to choose your food quickly. Chicca, the owner, is unbearably loud and intrusive , the service was slow and by the time the main arrived i wanted to leave.
Not my cup of tea.

Posto accogliente e ricercato. Non appena sono entrata mi sono sentita a mio agio e dopo giorni in cui da vegetariana mi sono sentita "un pesce fuor d'acqua" perché l'unica cosa che il menù mi offriva era una insalatina, qui ho respirato aria di casa..Finalmente un menù dove anch'io ho potuto mangiare..Tutto buonissimo, sapori ottimamente accostati e nulla di disgustoso.
Se dovessi tornare in Portogallo, tornerei volentieri qui.

Tijdens onze vakantie hier gegeten en het was geweldig! Ongelovelijk verse en gezonde gerechten. Ik had de geitenkaas vooraf en de gegrilde kip als hoofdgerecht en alles was heerlijk! Tip: kies als bijgerecht bij de kip de 9 gevarieerde groentes (van kikkererwten tot couscous en meer) en het paste er geweldig goed bij! Fun fact: ze steunen het lokale goede doel voor dieren.

Totalmente sobre valorado! Muy caro!!! Un plato enorme con algo de ensalada, unos tomates cherries, un par de champiñónes y un filete pequeño, de menos de 200 gr por 26€! Los nuggets de pollo son malísimos 10€, la botella de agua grande casi 4€, los postres 7€... Lo único bueno, el servicio! Los camareros te venden los platos como si fuera la última maravilla del mundo. Local pequeño y habitualmente frecuentado por alemanes e ingleses.

Lecker!! Wir haben vor dem Restaurant angestanden und 40 Minuten auf einen Tisch gewartet, so beliebt ist das Restaurant in der Hochsaison.. aber es hat sich gelohnt. Das Essen war toll, die Bedienung witzig und flott. Die Weinauswahl ist auch top. Wer sicher einen Platz haben möchte, sollte früh dort sein!

Great food, all fresh, nicely looking with phenomenal taste. It is a rather small space and food might take a while, but that’s how you should dine in a southern country anyway.

Best restaurant in Luz! Not cheap, it definitely worth it! They don’t take reservations, so just come and wait. If you arrive at 7-730 you should be ok to get in without waiting.
We had the spiced lentil garlic avocado salad, which was amazing. The Salmon with dill and the 7 salad was amazing, and for dessert the molten chocolate cake with peanut butter and sea salt... and the pavlova were both Devine. Would definitely go back!

Perhaps there’s no such thing as perfection, but we can’t fault this place. Friendly staff, good house wine (Alentejano red), excellent chicken liver paté and bread, great salmon and superb duck. We went back a second night - and were once again delighted!

What a delightful surprise, Chiccas doing breakfast, superb Eggs Benedict and best coffee in Luz! Definitely going back for pancakes with bacon and maple syrup or might even try the porridge!

Il ristorante é davvero carino. Offre un menù alternativo al solito pesce che si trova in zona. Si posso mangiare hamburger al piatto in tutte le salse, carne e molto altro ancora . I prezzi sono un tantino alti, sia per il cibo che per le bevande. Attenzione a non farvi prendere dall’ingordigia, specialmente se avente lo stomaco piccolo, o se comunque siete abituati a mangiare porzioni nella media, perché le portate sono veramente esagerare !!! non solo per la varietà delle cibo presente in un piatto (ovvero l’accompagnamento: patatine fritte, insalata, cetriolo ecc...), ma anche per la quantità , ovvero troppo di tutto!! E non solo, l’hamburger è altro 4 dita. QUATTRO DITA !!! Assurdo.
Non puoi alzarti da tavola che non sei sazio, questo è sicuro.
Abbiamo mangiato davvero bene.
Una grossa pecca che ho notato è che la proprietaria , Chicca, urla davvero moltissimo. Ho fatto caso che molto Clienti, mentre parlavano con lei , sobbalzavano all’indietro per quando urlava! Non si può!!!
Da quando é arrivata io tono di voce si è alzato moltissimo. Ovviamente hanno iniziato tutti ad urlare per coprire la sua voce. Io stessa non riuscivo a parlare con chi mi era difronte. Siamo scappati via per quando motivo, senza prendere il dessert.
Buono ma si può fare di meglio. Il servizio è importante!

After reading some great reviews we decided to try Chicca's and were so glad we did! The portions were huge but somehow we managed three courses - the antipasti shared starter, sticky ribs and grilled chicken breast with lemon & tarragon mains, all of which were amazing. Then for dessert we struggled to pick one each so the owner insisted we tried two each so we picked the strawberry shortcake, pavlova, lemon meringue pie and chocolate peanut butter raspberry tart (that she made for us), again all of these were delicious. With the flavours on show here it was plain to see that everything is 100% home made.
Our waiter was very efficient and knowledgeable too. He gave great service.
We're repeat visitors to the Algarve so next time we come we'll definitely be returning to Chicca's! Recommended

Everything was perfect until I received the bill. We were given complimentary bread at the start which we were charged for! We found this absurd. I asked, 'so it's compulsory to order the bread?' the waiter was confused and just said 'it's the way the manager does it.'
A very conniving way of getting and extra €1 from every customer. Not impressed at all.
Mains, desserts, portion size and service were flawless. Very good vegan options.

Bei unserem Ausflug nach Luz sind wir durch die tollen Bewertungen von dem Restaurant angezogen worden. Und Tatsache: Mega leckeres Essen mit sehr hochwertigen Zutaten!! Das Menü wird an einer Tafel am Tisch präsentiert. Echt sehr kleines Restaurant, es wird ziemlich schnell sehr voll und sehr laut. Very British! Echt ne lässige Atmosphäre und einfach mega lecker! Es wird keine Reservierung entgegen genommen, also am besten früh ankommen oder dann draußen warten, bis ein Tisch frei wird - es lohnt sich!

A comida é muito boa, mas o atendimento é cômico, garçom nascido em Portugal finge que não fala português e te traz um cardápio maior que a mesa, instalado do lado de fora, para escolher os pratos, quando há um cardápio do tamanho A4 em cima da mesa; esse procedimento se repete toda vez que aparece um cliente, parece o Chaves.

Ich kenne das Lokal seit 2011, komme seither jeden zweiten Sommer nach Lagos, und das kulinarische Highlight im Nachbarort Luz zählt jedes Mal zu den Fixpunkten des Urlaubs. Das Lokal ist, wie alles in Luz, very British; und zum allerersten Mal gab es heuer keine lange Menschenschlange vor dem Eingang - es war gut besucht, aber bei weitem nicht voll. Hätte es sich aber verdient, denn das Essen war gut wie immer: Zuerst mittelgroße Garnelen im Backteig mit süß-scharfer Sauße, dann klassische Spareribs, butterweich und würzig-süß mariniert; beides köstlich! Auch die Hausweine (weiß, rot, rosè, Vinho Verde und Prosecco!) sind absolut trinkbar (ich hab weiß und rot probiert). Fazit: oft probiert, nie bereut!

Food was good, but nothing really sensational. Cheese and leek pie was the best choice. Cakes are beautifully presented, but you can definitely find better ones elsewhere in Algarve. Fine restaurant, but overrated. And quite expensive.

Restaurant avec bonnes idées de recettes, les plats étaient bons. Mais nous n’avons pas apprécié le service, de mauvais qualité: pas de fourchette et d’assiette apportés à ma fille de deux ans malgré que nous les ayons réclamés, mon maris avait deux couteaux mais pas de fourchette!
L’attente était très longue et quand j’ai demandé au moins le plat pour ma fille, la serveuse m’a répondu que je n’avais qu’à venir manger à 17:30 si je voulais être servie vite! Scandaleux et désobligeants! On est arrivé à 19:15 et elle nous a apporté les plats à 20:30!
J’ai l’impression que c’est un restaurant qui préfère la clientèle anglaise, on s’est pas sentis bienvenus.

My absolute favorite place to eat in Luz, top quality ingredients and amazing presentation. Wine was very good and them desserts... Yum. Staff very helpful and restaurant although small is charming. You don't have to reserve here, just turn up first come first serve, we eat early so no waiting for us but if you eat later prepare for a wait, but know it will be worth it. Had a nice chat with Chicca herself and you can see her passion goes right back into her food. Can't wait to come back and eat here again.

First, I need to tell you that the food in here is absolutely amazing. We went there twice in last 3 days. Try anything and you’ll be happy. Make sure that you have some space for desert like “Pavlova”
Second, it does have it’s own spirit. Yes it’s small inside, yes it’s beautiful, yes it’s more personal than other places and that’s what makes it special.
I need to react to other “reviewers” as well.
The owner is amazing always smiling person who created this concept and when you get inside the restaurant, you’re into her world. Let her guide you, slow down a little bit and enjoy the moment. Also when someone is “not happy” about waiting time... they are blessed that they don’t have to wait 3 months to book a table in here...
Have you seen a toilet!? All that creams and so... it’s a lovely little touch.
We will always be happy to come back!

Really high standard organic ingredients in nicely balanced and well presented dishes. Great place to break from the monotony of a lot of Portuguese restaurants. Ribs are super, fall of the bone. They are slow cooked perfectly, but as a bbq fan I'd like a liitle bit of smoke/char. It's not a bbq joint so that's just me looking for something to moan about.

AMAZING! I went with my husband and we ordered: salmon and aubergine as main course and they both were great!.. desserts... No words for it.. we had 85% cocoa and the chocolate molten peanut butter. Both were divine, but the second one was the best I've ever had! Plus, the owner gave us a triple chocolate chunk as a gift at the end... I'm on sugar high now while writing this review. Totally worth it!! You can't miss it!!

Gutes Essen, alles organic, faire Preise. Immer sehr gut besucht und recht laut. Das Essen ist sehr lecker allerdings auch recht deftig. Die englische Chefin ist laut und immer gut gelaunt. Alles in allem ein guter Tipp in Luz.

This restaurant constantly delivers great food and great wine. Everything sourced locally with most things organic. Chicca, the owner and host of the restaurant is passionate about her food and her creations. A must to visit and reasonably priced. If the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy had been an eighth of a page longer it would have affirmed the Chiccas owner's claim to having "the best eggs Benedict in the universe". This is a delightful little find at the top of a hill, a side street you might miss as you drive past in the sleepy town of Luz. The owner has endless energy making all feel welcome, the staff friendly and helpful. Tip. They don't take reservations, meaning when nearby restaurants are impossible to get a table, if you arrive at Chiccas by 7pm you're going to get a place even last minute. Not the cheapest but then you aren't going to Lidl when you eat out.

Lovely home cooked food. Very nicely presented. Opening all day from 1st March so you can have breakfast,lunch or dinner :))) only downside....you cannot book a table. Also I noticed ideal if you are veggie or vegan.

We have visited Paris Da Luz for the last five years and this is our favourite restaurant of all. My husband yearns for the black Angus steak between visits and it doesn't disappoint. We ate there yesterday and the goats cheese starter with beetroot, walnut, orange and honey is just amazing. The owner is rightly proud of her food! Make sure you take a full wallet though as it's not the cheapest

Ristorante davvero valido. Piatti interessanti molto ben presentati e ottimi. La proprietaria è inglese, serve ai tavoli anche lei e spiega il menù piatto per piatto. Da provare. Prezzi non economici
