Service sympa, nonobstant certaines erreurs de service.

Magnífico restaurante en el centro de Faro. Está justo enfrente del Ayuntamiento. Tiene una buena terraza y una sala interior con aire acondicionado. La comida es muy rica y colorida. Los pescados exquisitos y frescos.

Belle salle moderne climatisée ou en terrasse au pied de la basilique (chaude malgré les voiles d ombrage) cuisine typique essentiellement de poissons , bien réalisée, pizzas pour ceux qui en sont lassés mais très moyennes, tarifs assez élevés et surtout service encore plus long qu habituellement en Algarve, bien que très aimable et multilingue

Unfortunately this restaurant didn't turn out as well as I had hoped after reading some reviews. That was especially due to our waiter. Maybe it was more him rather than the restaurant and its personnel, because other waiters seemed less cranky. The waiter seemed impatient and would stand just one metre from our table, pressing us to hurry, after we'd asked to get a little more time. Also he didn't feel inclined to check certain ingredients for us with the chef after we'd asked because my girlfriend can't eat everything due to her pregnancy. The food itself was tasty, nothing to complain there, except for the fact that we were told to expect some sort of cake as dessert when ordering 'Delicia de Algarve', when in fact it was some sort of yoghurt cup. Also note that if you accept the offer to get some bread and olives as a small starter (which in many places is naturally provided and without charge), you pay for it per per person. So €2 couvert per person and also €3 extra if you eat some of the cheese they put on the table. Not at all the hospitable Algarve I know from experience.

Wirklich sehr lecker und ruhig gelegen, auch die Bedienungen sind sehr nett. Verhältnismäßig etwas teuerer, aber Preis/Leistung stimmt trotzdem. Vor allem Fischgerichte kann ich sehr empfehlen.

Sulla piazza della cattedrane nella citta vecchia propone un menù con i piatti tipici del luogo preparati con ingredienti freschi molto buoni. Personale cortese solo un po lunghi i tempi di attesa. Il prezzo è adeguato. Lo consiglio io ci tornerei.

Après des tours et des détours pour trouver un restaurant où on espère trouver une bonne cuisine, ce qui semble compliqué à Faro tellement les restaurants se sont mis à l'heure anglaise avec des mélanges improbables justes bons à satisfaire un palais anglais nous sommes enfin tombés sur ce restaurant qui nous a fait une bonne cuisine à la portugaise

Service très agréable. Le serveur parle plusieurs langues dont le français et est très sympathique. Les plats sont succulents et très bien présentés. On a envie de manger avant de prendre la photo .
Les plats testés sont la brochette de lotte et le calamar grillé (photo). Nous le recommandons.

Ok if you come to Faro you have to come here. If your a surf and turf person then you will love it. True the stone cooked steak. Staff very friendly and yes the speak English, French, Italian and probably a few other languages so don’t be shy go there.

Very solid meal. Ordered three different types of fish dishes (salmon, tuna, and grouper) and they were all good. Tons of locals in the restaurant and the service is top notch.
Be ware that this is a bit pricey, but again, the food is good. I believe the price was worth it.

The best way to find a good restraunt I believe is to follow a group of local people at a discrete distance at lunch time and see where they eat at a preferred eatery. So we made sure our targets were indeed Portuguese and arrived at the Velha on their tails. Double check the menu and we had on two visits great fish, calamari in a tasty sauce, grilled salmon and fresh caught tuna belly. Puddings were fine but a tad sweet for my taste. Mein host was chatty and friendly as was his son, a recommendation from a seasoned traveller, a good bet.

We enjoyed the fish stew for two during our visit and it was not only sooooo good, it was quite a good amount also. Maybe more a fish stew for three :) Luckily we were renting an apartment nearby and was able to take the leftovers home and I got to enjoy the meal with ne more time the next day.
We got lucky and got a table without reservations but if you plan on dining here, do book to avoid disappointment.
Highly recommend if you are in the old town area of Faro.

We sat here as we were early for our ferry. The atmosphere was great and it was busy, we had coffee & drink. After seeing so many beautiful deserts we eventually asked for the menu just to look at deserts. We got some beautiful airy mouse with fruit thing. I can't recall the name but it was devine. Friendly staff, good service, excellent desserts & coffees. Toilets inside were lovely & spotlessly clean. I will return on next trip for dinner

Ate here on our last night in Portugal. Gorgeous setting in Faro's Old Town, shown below of my parents and one of my brother's. I ordered the pork and clams, shown on the photo, a traditional Algarve dish, which I thoroughly enjoyed. This was priced at €16, most mains priced between €12 (Peri peri chicken) to €25 (steak). Service was friendly but a little slow compared to our British standards. Definitely worth a visit if you're in Faro.

La comida fue riquísima, platos tradicionales y bien preparados. No le pongo cinco estrellas porque no avisaron de que no tenían agua por un corte general y estuvimos esperando muchísimo sin saber la razón.

Steak cooked on hot stone was nice but service was pretty slow. The steak was cooked by me as it was on a hot stone.. Service delay was having to ask twice for a menu and twice again for the bill.

Buscando un sitio donde comer la típica Cataplana de la zona, localizamos en Faro este restaurante muy bien situado en una preciosa y tranquila plaza. Nos resultó un poco caro pero nos alegramos muchísimo de haberlo elegido. Pedimos la Cataplana de pescado, una ración muy generosa (que casi no pudimos acabar) y una porción para compartir de la tarta Delicia del Algarve que nos recomendaron (de higos, algarrobo y almendra). Todo estaba absolutamente delicioso!! Muy recomendable

Very good food and great service. I spend a few days in the neighborhood for a job and was here almost every day for a soup, sandwich or cafe. I also ate in the restaurant one night. Very nice indeed.

Very nice and friendly staff. But the food was not worth it. It was an ecpensive restaurant but the salad was just a normal salad abd the grilled dourada was not the best that I had. We paid the service fee separately and they brought us a very delicious starter without asking but then they charged us for it!

Ausgezeichnet gegessen zu verhältnismäßig günstigen Preis. Wirklich lecker und absolut liebevoll zubereitet. Der Aufenthalt auf den direkt vor der Festung gelegenen Terrasse ist lohnenswert. Der Trubel der diversen Lokale auf dem Weg dorthin ist dort verklungen.
Die Bedienung ist freundlich und sehr höflich.
Eine absolute Empfehlung.

We ordered 2 glasses of wine, and the waiter said he would bring half a bottle, which turns out to be more expensive than two glasses and less the amount. Same goes with the fish suggestion, which is much more expensive than two portions if ordered separately. They also brought some bread, olives, and cheese that were all charged individually, without telling us that the starters are not on the house, or that they would be a cover charge which includes all the small items. Did not feel like it worths the price we paid.

Waiter trying to trick us into ordering more expensive and excessive versions of the same dish was not welcome. Lovely setting, and decent price for the daily dishes. 5 euro cover charge (appetizers included). Beware of the slow service, and check the receipt.

I enjoyed eating at this restaurant very much. I visited three times during the week I was staying in Funchal but wish I had gone there more often!
The food was delicious and beautifully presented.
The situation, by the old fort, overlooking the sea, felt very special.
Music played by a talented guitarist added to the atmosphere.
Choosing from the varied menu I sampled tasty scabbard fish served Madeiran style with banana, tender grilled squid and tuna cooked to perfection.
I also tried some of the lovely puddings and a variety of cheeses.
Not to mention the excellent wine and expertly made ponchas.
The service was excellent too. There was a genuine warmth and as a solo traveler I felt very comfortable eating alone but I didn't feel alone because I was able to chat away as though to a host at a dinner party and I certainly didn't feel overlooked or pressured to leave. I was impressed by the customer care shown and the attention to detail.
I will certainly visit again when I am next in Funchal which I hope will be in the not too distant future.
I visited this restaurant again in January and February 2018.
I enjoyed many excellent meals. All dishes cooked to perfection and extremely delicious.
The ambience of Cidade Velha is refined and tasteful and it is a delight to eat there.
The manager Horácio maintains the utmost standards and all of his team are dedicated and helpful. Indeed I overheard several customers commenting on how they return to the restaurant time and time again because of the warm welcome and caring service that they receive from Horácio.
Many thanks for gastronomic experiences that I will always remember.

Shocking service and lukewarm food - eat here at your peril. Both the waiter and waitress struggled to break a smile at lunchtime today. My wife ordered red snapper and when it arrive it was not hot, we complained and the waiter took it away only to reproduce it a few minutes later slightly warmer. We quickly paid up and went somewhere else.

El restaurante en sí merece la pena únicamente por su ubicación.
Lo primero que no me pareció bien fue que nos pusieran (sin preguntar) el típico plato de aceitunas, queso y pan...
Finalmente yo pedí unas sardinas y mi mujer una lubina (que no tenían) por lo que acabamos comiendo sardinas ambos...las sardinas no eran muy frescas que dijéramos. Aparte de esto, dos bebidas y dos cafés 30€.
Personalmente no es un sitio en el que repetiría pues al final el único valor diferencial es el enclave dentro de la ciudad vieja.

Situado en un lugar tranquilo, entre edificios históricos. Se puede disfrutar de la cocina de este restaurante, que esta tan rica como aparentan sus platos.

Boa localização, com esplanada, ambiente agradável e bom serviço.

Family holiday. 30 minutes to getting a menu. Options we wanted to eat not available (veggie options) and were told 45 minutes in. 2.5 hours and we have had main and still waiting for the bill. Veggie special option was cooked spaghetti tossed with the general boiled veg that were standard extras and oil. Annoyed. Other tables getting similarly agitated. Pity, lovely setting.

Mangiato molto bene. Abbiamo preso un antipasto di calamari, forse con un po' troppo olio e un branzino alla griglia per 3 persone ed era ottimo. Complimenti anche al personale. Ottimo rapporto qualità prezzo.

Les serveurs ne nous prennent pas en considération, ne s'excusent même pas pour le temps d'attente. Le service a été long et désagréable avec un manque de respect des serveurs.

Eu só não dou 5 estrelas por causa da TV ligada no canal futebol. Este restaurante de está qualidade merecia uma música de ambiente e não um relato de jogo. Simpatia profissionalismo qualidade e preço razoável.

Great friendly restaurant with superb views of the fort and romantic harbour. Staff are amazing as is their coffee .I recommend the pepper steak. Really , really good.

TOTALMENTE NO RECOMENDABLE. Tienen un charlatan captando clientes a la puerta del restaurante y nosotros al contrario que la otra opinión publicada, aceptamos y nos quedamos a comer. Pero parece que si no pides lo que te recomiendan les molesta por un lado por te tardan en servir mas de la cuenta y luego te cobran todo lo que pueden para hacer caja. Nos pusieron el aperitivo que te ponen por si lo quieres, pero no te informan de nada. Nosotros no lo tomamos y lo retiraron, pero luego nos lo cobraron. Los precios de lo que no está en la carta me dio la sensación que inflados para llegar al precio que quieren. Mucho mas caro que cualquier sitio de la zona. Botellita de agua de 750: 5 euros UN TIMO PARA TURISTAS.

I cannot fairly rate the food or decor as I did not actually eat in the restaurant and I'm sure it is very satisfactory. However I did come to look at the menu while i was sight seeing and was hassled by the waiter into coming inside. As I did not want to eat just then, I said we would come back. I continued to look around Faro and finally decided to eat in a restaurant about 10 minutes away. The waiter from your restaurant happened to pass by as I was almost finished my meal where he proceeded to shout at me that i was 'full of s**t and a f**king b**ch' for saying I would return to his restaurant. This was in front of all the other patrons. This was completely out of order and unprofessional. It left me and my partner feeling threatened and shocked and ultimately with a bad feeling leaving Faro. Very unfortunate!!!

Un restaurante muy bueno....lo recomiendo....ubicado en pleno centro del casco viejo de la ciudad "El Faro" con un excelente ambiente y atención muy grata... RECOMENDADO...
