Really good restaurant with outstanding service. For 2 persons we paid 125 Euro, which is really good price for a fish for two, 2 soups, 2 small bottle of wines,2 beers and desert. In the restaurant you will see a lot of locals and not so many tourists, which means is really good. We were lucky and found table, but I would recommend to book a table or call before you go. I believe is one of the best restaurants in Lisbon. I strongly recommend that.

Comida portuguesa de mucha calidad. Ofrecen un marisco con muy buena pinta y son famosos sus pepitos de ternera que tienen una carne y un pan exquisito. Además las croquetas están muy ricas. El restaurante es muy auténtico ya que tiene bastantes años. El trato es muy bueno

As soon as you walk into Gambrinus, you feel as if you had stepped back into the past. This is an authentic, traditional, Portuguese restaurant located in the center of Lisbon. The waiters are dressed in evening suits. You’ll see spectacular explosions of flames as they flambé the Crepes Suzette at the tables, a house favorite. The shellfish were first rate. We had head on shrimp to start (gambas in Portuguese). They were generously sprinkled with coarse salt and very fresh so you could suck the heads - delicious. Cod is revered by the Portuguese so I had to try it. They brought me a big slab and it lived up to expectations. We had a terrific white wine recommended by the sommelier and finished with a nice slice of Queijo de Serra. It is considered to be the best cheese by the Portuguese. It is indeed delicious, creamy and just slightly tart. Of course, we washed it down with the customary port wine. It was our first night in Lisbon and it was a great way to get into the spirit of what is a marvelous city.

Je kunt in Lissabon goedkoper eten, dat is waar. Maar dat wil je niet altijd, soms heb je gewoon behoefte aan net ietsje meer.
Lekker gegeten en konden ook nog die leuke voetbalwedstrijd op de achtergrond volgen.
Hebben hier een fijne avond beleefd.

Todo muy rico. No es barato pero tiene un producto de gran calidad así que lo vale 100%. Las almejas están buenísimas, buenas raciones. El café lo hacen delante de ti con agua hirviendo y un filtro. Muy chulo de ver. Gran trato del servicio. Recomiendo

hahahahahaha "spit with sea-food" is literally listed on their menu - and its actually not ironic - it's hit or miss, some of the entrees/desserts are to die for and others are almost inedible. For the price and the service level you would expect more.

Il ristorante vorrebbe essere extra lusso. In realtà i piatti sono discreti ma i prezzi sono stratosferici . 250 euro in quattro con una bottiglia di vino da 20 euro ed un solo piatto economico a testa. Sono prezzi folli per Lisbona. Secondo me non ne vale la pena.

We went as recommended by friends who have been to Lisbon many times. It was early lunch but soon filled out with mostly local businessmen. The service was impeccable and the food Delicious . We had rice with seafood, the Lobster pie. The bread was exquisite. Desserts: the chocolate mousse and specialty soufflé out of this world! A memorable meal. Pricey but worth it! A must if in Lisbon!

I also don’t leave reviews but felt compelled (as many others have said). Food was terrible! And way overpriced. And got food positioning here. For the prices they are charging, you can literally go eat anywhere and seriously consider doing that. Not sure how some have rated this high. Beware.

Most horrible welcome ever received at a restaurant. This is my 2nd visit, my first was with a Portuguese Ticon so of course we were treated like royalty. 2nd time arround, I arrived with my wife a 6pm to a totally empty restaurant. When we were greated we were looked up and down, I'm guessing the staff is not familiar with Luxury brand, as I own several Boutiques. They from the start made us feel like we were unwanted, 'you sure you want to eat here?'. After the server persisted if we were sure we wanted to eat here he said he will try to find us a table. Mind you the restaurant is totally empty. After 1 min wait he comes to get us with a very cold voice and tells us to sit on a corner table (onlt table without napkins'. The next 3 min not a word he sets the table, puts the menus on the table and walks away. Not a word, not a welcome, not a hi, nothing. He doesn't even ask if we want a drink. Leaves us by ourselves with an empty restaurant. We felt so unwanted, that we ended up leaving without ordering. In 35 years this is the worst welcome I have ever received in a quality restaurant. Somebody please teach this Guys not to judge a book by its cover. We don't.....
First time I ever leave a rating, but in 2019 I though people stopped discriminating, especially in what is supposed to be a 'top service' restaurant.
I'll guess I'll spend my $$$ on another Seafoodplater.

I have never given a review, but this is so old school and condescending to women. The food was mediocre at best and the service not much better. There are too many good restaurants to go here. The concierge recommended it so I can only assume she gets a kick back!!

It's a good place if you don't care much about your money and have't been in fancy restaurant before, but if a judging it as a high class place, it's ok. Nothing amazing. Staff are well manered as epsected, but I didn't feel comfortable under gaze of staff there.
Cooking weren't all that good for the price, meat were a bit dry and swimming in oil, maybe it supposed to be like that, many portuguese dished are all with oil, but it was too much and kinda dry, taste were still nice.
P.S.
When we had refil everything was crisp.

IT’S TERRIBLE.
The wine is good. That’s all.
We ordered fish fillet(fish) and lamb(meat). Fish fillet feels like elementary school’s lunch set.
Lamb smells like a butchery(say bad) then I feel nausea.
I don’t wanna say that anymore. Just wine, and the others should not, avoid them I think, please.

Pregos and croquettes for lunch and the bar staff was incredible! The bar tenders went above and beyond to show us food and drink unique to Portugal. The hour or two we spent here might have been our favorite in Lisbon.

Traditional Portuguese restaurant since the 1930’s. The bar is the great attraction, with friendly waiters and “pratos do dia”. A must is a combination of meat “croquetes” and a “prego” sandwich (tenderloin beef with Portuguese bread) downed with a cold “Imperial” beer.

Excellent service, good food and an extensive wine list, but this comes at a cost. The restaurant itself however, doesn't have any special interior design, but it looks classical with wooden tables & chairs. I tried the sole Gambrinus fillet and this comes with a few boiled potatoes, spinach, one tomato and one shrimp per fillet and butter sauce. This dish tasted really good and the fish was fresh.

Absolutely delicious meal from start to finish. Service was very attentive and traditional Portuguese. Perfect for late night dining, a bit formal, but I arrived in jeans and was still welcomed. The food was incredible all shrimp and seafood is fresh and flavored to perfection. Main course of the fried fish fillet with rice and shrimp special was exceptional! Will return.

De muitas vezes que já fui ao Gambrinus desta vez fiquei muito decepcionada e dificilmente voltarei. Se muitas vezes que já fui, da última vez passei pelo Gambrinus depois de já ter almoçado num restaurante na mesma rua, deu-me vontade de comer umas ostras, que sei que lá posso confiar e um flute de espumante. Depois pedi a conta, ao que o funcionário que penso que seja gerente me responde “ isso não é uma conta, é uma continha”.
Independentemente do dinheiro que lá gasto acho que o comentário foi infeliz. E perdeu uma cliente.

Service was good. But the food definitely not worth the price. I ordered some pork dish (24 euro). The taste was good but the pork was so dry. It maybe the style of the dish, but nevertheless I didn’t enjoy the dish.

Very old school, needs some renovation, high prices, but not bad at all - we had dinner here after midnight, so we really appreciate that we found something else then just fast food in this time of night!

Menu original, carte des vins très complète, service de grande qualité, nous avons dégusté un excellent repas dans ce restaurant situé dans le centre touristique de la ville. Sa façade extérieure est très sobre, ce qui fait qu'on peut passer devant sans le voir, ce qui serait bien dommage !!!

美味しい物がいっぱいありましたが、
さすが老舗のレストランだけあって、
魚介料理として、完成度が高く、

It used to be one of the best in town. The food is still good but not as good as it used to be. It has lots of turists and maybe the teste changed to suit all. The service is still good and the price is still expensive.

My family, 2 adults and 2 adult 'children's had dinner at Gambrinus tonight and everyone loved it. This is a proper restaurant where serving is an art form. The food was beautifully prepared and efficiently served. Customers are in very experienced hands, well looked after and very well fed. Gorgeous bread and generous almonds to start. We ordered the 2 daily specials of suckling pig and grouper fish. We were so overwhelmed when waitors arrived to offer us seconds of this gorgeous food! I wish I had had room for the fabulous puddings!
Highly recommend this homely, friendly and comfortable restaurant. Although the restaurant was busy we could hear each other speak! A highlight of our Lisbon mini break.

Um clássico da nossa cidade, com um serviço que nos transporta para outros tempos... atencioso e profissional. Os vinhos saliento o fantástico Quinta do Avelar Arinto e o Quinta do Noval reserva Tinto. Dois exemplos que casaram lindamente com o arroz a marinheiro e o segundo com as costeletas de borrego!!! Fantástico!!!

O nome não deixa margem para dúvidas ! Considerado por muitos como um dos melhores restaurantes de lisboa !!! É o Ícone da cozinha portuguesa há mais de 80 anos . Na bonita sala ou do balcão são servidas com brio e sabedoria iguarias que dão vivas ao seu paladar , tais como peixe fresco , marisco ou a famosa perdiz . Será bem recebido! É que que nada não lhe falte usufrua do estacionamento privativo , um luxo !!

二度訪問しました。初めは年末の土曜の18:00頃で空いていました。生ガキ6個とシーフードライス、白ワインフルボトルを注文して、72.5ユーロでした。味は普通。ワインはウエーターが注いでくれるのですが、催促しないと気が付かない。ウエーターは2人でしたが、混雑時は不安です。2回目翌日、日曜の12:00頃で、カウンターでビーフサンドイッチとビールを食べました。15ユーロ。日曜はガイドブックに掲載されている店は営業していない店が多かった。

모듬해산물구이? 는 사실 요리라기보다는 그냥 해산물 구운거라 엄청 맛있다는 아니지만 먹을만했구요 ㅎㅎ 와인종류가 너무 많아서 못고르고있었는데 서버분이 와서 도와주셔서 수월하게 골랐습니다. 전반전으로 서버분들이 너무 친절하시고 유쾌하셔서 기분좋게 식사했습니다.

We came for a family dinner and ordered the rice with fish and the lobster and shrimps mixed grill.
The rice had no flavor and was way too watery.
The shrimps were not fresh, not cleaned (which is outrageous for such a place) and overcooked.
The potatoes accompanying the fish were very spongy..have eaten much better ones at the school canteen for much cheaper.
The service is very professional, but definitely not worth the extremely overpriced food!!

Este restaurante merece a fama de excelente ! É ótimo em tudo: comida, ambiente e atendimento. Começa com a facilidade do valet para estacionar o carro, a simpatia e alegria do recepcionista, as ótimas sugestões do maître e finalmente o preço bem justo pelo que você degustou e apreciou. Ambiente tradicional e alegre com ótima comida é sempre uma combinação perfeita !

ブイヤベースを目的に行ったけど、水曜日のメニューだったので食べられず。代わりにfish riceを食べました。ブイヤベースおじや？な感じ。リゾットに近い？長粒米でおいしかった。サービスはよく、お値段も確かにするけれど、とてもいい夕食でした。みなさんとても真面目に働いていました。地元の人は手前のバーカウンターでディナーしてたみたい。次回行ったらクレープシュゼット食べたいです

Lovely decoration and tip top service. We came here for dinner after reading all the great reviews. We ordered the special fish as recommended by the waiters, but unfortunately were not impressed as it was expensive and more importantly not fresh. Maybe the other dishes are better, but their special fish has not made us wanting to come back to try them in a hurry.

Depois de muito ouvir falar, fui finalmente conhecer o tão falado Gambrinus, pois embora as expectativas fossem elevadas, não creio que tenha sido a causa para a minha desilusão. O cheiro quando se entra é algo de tabaco e e outros odores muito entranhados, o espaço esquecido no tempo, os clientes também eles com ar "sou importante porque venho aqui", o serviço é de fato irrepreensível embora não seja de todo o meu estilo, a comida normal e não condiz de forma alguma com o valor, os tão falados croquetes ainda vinham com sinais de terem sido congelados. Enfim, foi para cumprir a curiosidade, mas não é de todo o meu estilo.

It was my birthday and for a special occasion we wanted to go somewhere appropriate. This was NOT the place !
I asked for the Lobster and asked how it was cooked ( in other competent establishments I have had various ways including Thermidor and simple garlic butter ) what did they offer me ketchup and tartar sauce I was horrified ! My husband and I then opted for the kidneys in a Madeira sauce. To our surprise the kidneys arrived and they were “tough” akin to shoe leather,needless to say they went straight back to the kitchen.The Maitre D tried to make amends by offering as an apology some lamb cutlets cooked with garlic and olive oil These were ok but again not the best lamb I have tasted.
When the bill arrived I was shocked to find that they had tried to charge for something we did not want in the first place and refused to pay for the lamb reluctantly it was removed from the total.
This place is not what it pretends to be the food at best is substandard and the prices it tries to charge absurd.Go elsewhere do not eat here.
One last comment there are dozens of flies within the restaurant so presumably the hygiene in this so called restaurant is suspect to say the least. I have also heard subsequently that this establishment PAYS for good reviews. Be aware everything about this place is to be avoided ,the staff even directed me to the incorrect toilet !
Do NOT under any circumstances use this restaurant for a special occasion as my birthday meal was completely ruined !

Fundado em 14 de Junho de 1936, nasceu de uma antiga tasca na então Rua Eugénio dos Santos (hoje Rua das Portas de Santo Antão). Após obras de remodelação em 1964 surge o restaurante/bar/cervejaria com o aspecto que tem atualmente. Tem duas salas decoradas com madeiras exóticas e tapeçarias.
É muito frequentado por figuras públicas.
Tem um bom menu de carne, peixe, marisco e sobremesas. O serviço costuma ser bom. Os preços são acima da média.

Food is very unsatisfying here. The restaurant is trying to look high-class, service is up to that but definitely not the food. "Golden shrimps with lime rice" for 32€. You literally get 5 shrimps with dry rice - no invention, no taste whatsoever. The food quality varies from total joke to average which is just unacceptable in a restaurant offering food from 20€ to 240€.

Restaurant in the middle of Lisboa. It’s an old school restaurant with very professional waiters preparing some of the plates in front of the eyes of their guests. The food was very fresh and good but for my taste on the too salty side. There is a great choice of appetizers, main dishes are mostly seafood or meat dishes and for dessert there is some nice choice of traditional Portuguese cakes and desserts as well as fresh fruits (Mango). The wine was excellent. High prices but worth a visit.

What a great place. It is old school class where the waiters are professionals.
The suggestions for wine and port were top notch.
The waiters are extremely friendly and took the time to describe the dishes.
Portions were generous and served table side.
If you are looking for a trendy place you will not enjoy this.
If you enjoy good service and well prepared and well served traditional dishes I recommend this highly.

Una mica decebuts. Vam anar-hi amb la família perquè sortia recomanat a totes les guies.
Cal dir que el servei es excel.lent potser una mica massa clàssic.
Pel què fa al menjar no va estar a l'alçada del preu pagat. El meu fill va menjar uns tagliattele i nosaltres una parrillada de mariscs. Tot massa cuit.
Després vam demanar un filet que no estava malament però la salsa estava massa líquida, i un tartar de salmó que semblava salmo fumat enmig d'un bassal de suc de llimona.
Les postres van ser un tocinillo de cielo casolà que no estava malament i un pastis que no recordo quin era, correcte.
Per beure vam agafar un Alvarinho d'uns 26€ i aigua.
En total vam pagar 210€. Una mica car per la nostra opinió comptant la qualitat del que vam menjar.

As Lisbon is apparently the hottest place on earth for the citytrip craving, we had a hard time finding a nice place to eat for our last night in town. We first tried a place near our hotel which has 3000+ reviews but also 100 people waiting outside, the place across the street was closed on Wednesdays (really?). so we resorted to Google in finding an alternative. To say we were not disappointed is an understatement.
Upon entering the restaurant, situated in a very touristy part of town, one was welcomed with a relaxed and informal atmosphere. We settled in at the bar (imho the best spot in this restaurant) and an evening of entertainment unfolded in front of our eyes. The quintessential European restaurant, with a highly efficient and professional staff (in these days a rarity) served up a repertoire of very well made, classic, dishes. Each and everyone absolutely delightful to look at and eventually enjoy.
The ham melted on our tongues, the mixed grill was perfectly cooked (one point of criticism though; the prawn had not its intestines removed which was very clearly visible) and the desert was the guilty pleasure that it should be.
In one word (or actually three), a perfect evening.
Highly recommended.

WHAT TO TRY?!
They are known for their seafood here so definitely get the boiled seafood platter. Enough to feed two ppl, this dish has a bit of everything in terms of seafood!
Although in terms of taste, it really doesn’t taste much unless you dip the seafood in butter or spicy butter. So the price you’re paying is really for the seafood you get.
We also had clams as an appetizer and it was cooked in a garlic butter. Fresh clams, but again nothing too too special about the dish.
LAST TIP?!
If you want to end your dessert with some crepes, they simmer the crepes with wine in front of you! It’s quite a show with fire and the alcohol so an added bonus to end your night on a high note.

Un apéritif chacun, un filet de loup servi avec 2 pauvres pommes de terre à l'eau et une sauce quelconque, pour le premier plat, une portion de riz avec 3 gambas et 2 crevettes servie avec cette même sauce quelconque pour le second plat, un verre de vin chacun, ajoutez à cela 2 cafés et voici 120 euros bien volés !

This was actually my first prego experience in Portugal and it turned out to be the best one ive had by a margin. Crusty, rustic bread with medium rare juicy steak, served with sweet mustard. Just sublime.
The waiter suggested a croquet and a glass of dry white port. I also had some filter coffee all of which came to 19EUROs which is NOT at all cheap.
The prego itself is 8, and whilst thats a step above all the rest in price the quality is sublime. Photos will do it justice.

Old-world atmosphere and elaborate service. But to what end? The food is bland. The prices are crazy by Portugal standards (34 euros for a seafood entree plus you'd have to order vegetables on the side for another 10-16 euros). At 9 pm on a weekday the restaurant had a 100% tourist clientele (mostly Asian-Americans). The food actually doesn't seem Portuguese. More like "continental" food as would have been done in the 1950s in a U.S. city.

Reserved a table for 2 online and we showed up a couple of hours later. Incredible service, very friendly and helpful staff. We ordered the seafood platter to share and everything was perfect!! We ended the meal with desserts and the "sin of chocolate" was really a sin!! Very highly recommended! To witness the making of the crêpe suzette is a must see, kids and adults enjoyed it!

Que decepção .... sou Brasileiro e amigos me recomendarão este restaurante.Na chegada... o restaurante estava praticamente vazio e o próprio Metre nâo deixou eu escolher a mesa que eu queria sentar alegando que a mesma estava reservada. Para minha surpresa conforme chegavam os clientes ele ia acomodando todos na mesma fileira. Quanto a comida.., o bacalhau era só espinho e pele , a entrada... o pãozinho que e uma caracteristica de Portugal ser todos muito bom estava velho com certeza era de dois ou tres dias atraz ou mais.Tomamos um Clericô de espumante que estava bom .A conta 120,00 Euros para duas pessoas.Reclamei na saida para o gerente que nao tinha gostado da comida e do atendimento ...nao reclamei do preço ...e ele simplesmente disse... que eu deveria ter procurado outro restaurante.
Nao entrem nesta fria amigos ,vâo se decepcionar.

The only reason why this place doesn't get one star, is because the decor is lovely--wood-paneled walls, lovely stained glass and tapestries by Rolando Sá Nogueira.
But the food is just terrible--antiquated and expensive. The tapestry is from the 60s, and the food seems like it is too. All of the fish and meat that we ordered were overcooked. The cod was inedible.
And the worst part--you'll pay and arm and a leg for this terrible food.
Do yourself a favor: if you really want to visit this place, get a drink at the bar and take a look at the restaurant. But, with so many other great restaurants in the city, there is no reason to eat here.

We had a gentlemen's club style lunch here right at the bar. The well dressed waiters behind the counter place small table cloth for each patron dining here. There's locals reading the paper, enjoying a coffee as well as tourists like us just trying to understand how this works! However we had the best time with awesome people sandwiches (not on the menu), croquettes and homemade mustard, shrimp, small beers and what not. If you like that kind of stuff, a special experience, a casual lunch with class, Gambrinus is your place.

Nao gostei. Informei o garçom que era alergica a camarao e frutos do mar, entao, escolhi um peixe que, segundo ele, so tinha tomate, cebola, batatas e temperos. O prato veio com cheiro de molho com camarão. Questionei novamente o garçom e somente depois de minha insistência é que ele informou que o molho foi preparado com um : "fundinho de molho de mariscos" (era camarão). Pedi para trocar o prato e eles me prepararam um peixe grelhado com legumes fervidos com gosto de nada. DETESTEI tudo, principalmente a falta de responsabilidade. Zero estrelas!!!!!!

Há 19 anos atrás, fazia 1 ano de casado, e levei a minha esposa ao Gambrinus. Impressionou-me o espetáculo feito com a sobremesa que pedi, (como ilustra uma das fotos), assim como o preço 5.000 escudos. Tal não é o meu espanto, quando fui recentemente ao local, e na ementa a mesma sobremesa a 25 euros. "case study" para os economistas! Duas décadas depois!

Serviço de luxo em balcão de luxo. O melhor prego de Lisboa dá mais trabalho a morder o pão (ligeiramente torrado) que a carne. Croquetes bons, mas não ao nivel do mito criado. Café em balão no final, excelente.

A really special restaurant that is a dining experience from a bygone erw. I was uncertain walking in with ripped jeans and trainers (it has been recommended to my friend) whilst they were so welcoming to us all, I'd say it's the kind of restaurant that you want to get dressed up for. The waiters were a joy and the program and dance of how food was served to the table, make it one of the most memorable dining experiences I've ever had. It's pricey but worth it for a special occasion.
