From the reviews I expected the food to be amazing and it isn’t! The place looks lovely and the atmosphere is great but the food wasn’t the best!

A repetir...

Very good food, kind service, when we asked they served especially for us Thaly, while it was not in the menu. Superb Customer Approach, definitely coming back!

Aconselho.

They give you SWEET biryani. Staff is rude. Also kadhai paneer they served was little qty. Only one person and a child can manage in it.

Absolutely the best Indian food I have ever had! Small excellent ambiance with Indian music in the background. Also out the door for 38 Euros.

I always visit 2-3 best rated indian restaurants in any European city I visit. This is by far the worst. I gave one star because may be it is just a day off for then given the good ratings they got. But food is horrible, I usually dont care about service, attitude etc if food is good. But here everything was horrible.

Stumbled across this place looking for somewhere open on Xmas day. Fantastic food and great ambiance.

Dry, not very tasty tandoori chicken, inexplicably hacked into four pieces. Did not have any beers on the menu. Shrimp korma consisted of 10 tiny shrimp in a tasty sauce. If you have eaten good Indian food before, avoid.

We ate at Calcuta on Rua do Norte most recently in September, 2018. This was our 3rd visit, after eating there twice during a trip to Lisbon in 2016. My wife was really looking forward to returning here in 2018 but we were disappointed. Nothing was bad. It was just mediocre. It wasn't as good as our visits in 2016. We arrived just after they opened for dinner at 6PM. Although we were the only people in the restaurant, we weren't allowed to sit in their one window seat because they keep that open for a writer who frequents the place. We also weren't able to get any naan bread because they didn't pre-heat the oven and said it would take 30-45 minutes after opening for it to be ready. The Papari Masali (papadums) were decent, as were the Chamuças de Frango (samosas). An order of jirra rice is definitely enough for 2. My wife had a spicy chicken curry dish that isn't on the menu on the web site. I had a Seekh kabab, a grilled minced lamb kabab. It was good, but overcooked. The total price was 36 Euros, including beers, which I have nothing to complain about. All in all, it was, as I said before, mediocre. The server and staff were friendly as always. We will probably return for a late night curry after a night of Bairro Alto drinking, but there are other Indian restaurants in Lisboa that have been recommended by an Indian friend that we will likely pursue for a planned dinner next visit.

Excessivamente caro.

Nice location, hospitable, good curries, very average Naan (more of bread). Roti, Parantha etc weren't available

Cijene prihvatljive i prosječne.

Nice Indian restaurant in the middle of Lisbon. Never tasted Indian food before but I had the feeling that they really know what they serve. Best taste for good money. Also seating is very comfortable and the service employees are doing a great job!

Nice little restaurant. Stumbled upon when we were strolling around . Food was good, nominally priced and quick.

One of the nicest Indian Restaurants to visit in Lisbon. Its in the heart of the city and will give you some authentic flavors to enjoy if you are missing the Indian spices. The owner speaks hindi just in case you are missing that as well ;) The staff is very courteous and helpful. We enjoyed our meal totally.

Irei voltar...

Came here as a group on the last night of our visit to Lisbon. I ordered the Lamb Karai Ghosh with pilau rice and dried fruit and a side order of garlic Naan bread. This is the best Indian food I have ever experienced. I will definitely be paying another visit when I come back to Lisbon

Very near to the hotel we are staying. Food was not bad and so was the portion size jeera rice could have done with less oil. Plates were cold and hardly any choice for dessert. The waiter could do with some charisma.

Very nice Indian food just at the base of Bairro Alto. Their naan was fresh and their Chana Masala quite tasty. They have some tradicional good from Goa, what is very uncommon everywhere else (unfortunately these dishes were not vegetarian so I couldn't try them)

O meu restaurante indiano preferido

The portions were small. The shrimp korma had a sweet coconut flavor that tasted more Thai than Indian. The chicken Tikka masala was unusual but decent. Both dishes were a bit watery instead of creamy. Neither dish had any hot spice to it.

This is my favorite Indian restaurant in Lisbon, the food is perfectly cooked though slightly small portions. Prices are very reasonable, the house white wine is €12 a bottle. All the staff speak English and right in the middle of the Bairro Alto for a drink afterwards.

Fair price for quality, but not very special. If your looking for spicy Indian food, with an explosion of taste, this is not it. However, the food was tasty and freshly made.

Attentive staff, beautiful decor and good food. We ordered the Baigan bharta(roasted eggplant), biryani and Kalcuti which were all very good and very mild (which is more in line with Portuguese tastes). Traveler tip: when a restaurant says they open at 12pm expect it to really open between 12:30 and 1.

Our review might be different from other review was we are vegetarian. I will clarify from the beginning that the rating is just for food, the staff was very courteous and friendly, and the service very good. Also, I think that by now we had been pampered by the amazing quality of indian food in Spain and Portugal. The dosappointment begin with the vegetarian entree options which were just 5. It was a first for us in an indian restaurant. We ordered onion bhajia as starters, chana Masala and baingan Bharta with jeera rice and roti as main entrees. Spices were minimal, roti was dry. Instead, the food was on the sweeter side. We had mango kulfi for dessert which was good. Overall, in Lisbon I would avoid this restaurant especially for vegetarians.

-I ordered a Fanta but I got a "Sumol". I've asked him what this drink is and he told me that this is the "same" like an Fanta. (Which is definately not the case). -THE WAITER IS VERY UNFRIENDLY!! He sucks with his character. He never says "thank you" and he looks pissed. -The naan bread was ok, but the chicken tikka was not good at all. It was green and not red and there it was not tasty at all... -I asked for a spicy sauce and I got a typical sauce from a bottle that you already know from chinese restaurants. -I told everything to the manager but he didn't gave a f****

A revisitar.

The food was tasty and the service was quick. We had the chicken jalfrezi, chicken tikka masala, rice and breads. There was also a special super spicy chutney that zinged up the entire meal. Do ask for it specifically. Place was crowded and a little cramped. But overall very good experience.

Having lived for years in GB I´ve never been to such an awful Indian restaurant. Apparently dumb waiter only communicating when getting your bill, tiny dishes, chicken masala, not deserving the name, cokes preseted in tin cans on your table. Bill: 9€ masala + rice 3€ = 12€. Nothing left to say. Please avoid this place!

I'm glad I found this place because the food was the best Indian I have ever had. The chicken briyani I had was perfect and made spicy just like I requested. Service was good and staff were pleasant. This is a real gem of a restaurant in Lisbon.

The food was good, but nothing special. Portions were a little small. Service was fast but not a single word from the waiter. Would recommend other Indian places nearby.

Had the lamb Briyani and the cheese naan, the Briyani was not served with any side dishes like some veg or a curry gravy, which I was expecting, so it was really dry and heavy...taste was not bad but just wish there were some side dishes to accompany it. Portion was huge.

If you're planning to visit Lisbon and its nightlife as an tourist in my own city this place managed to amaze me by the quality of the service and the people that work in it. Excellence is the right word for this restaurant and you can see that there is a passion within the hosts from the minute you walk in till you walk out with a smile on your face. A must visit place in Bairro Alto.

Two of us had dinner here last week. This is a lovely restaurant; great service, friendly staff and a wonderful view overlooking the beach and ocean across the road. They serve typical Indian food and you also get bread and salad with your meal which I love. There are many seating options; inside, outside. This is another reason to rent a car here as you get to visit a great restaurant like this away from all the tourist madness. If you go in time for sunset it is beautiful. I highly recommend and it is good value for money.
