Ravie! Le service est super, nous avons été servis par Rita et Lucio et avons été accueillis comme des rois. Quant aux plats, nous avons adoré notre gaspacho de betterave, les Joux de cochons et le poulpe était exceptionnel.
Le meilleure restaurant de notre séjour.
Rapport qualité prix, plus que raisonnable.
Je recommande vivement!

Très déçu.... nous sommes allés manger dans ce restaurant en se fiant aux commentaires laissés par d’autres avant nous, nous n’aurions pas dû. Serveur désagréable qui soupire du fait que nous ne comprenions pas les plats en portugais et s’agace en nous les expliquant. Le poisson était congelé, ce qui est vraiment décevant sachant que nous sommes à 500m de la mer.. de plus il était fade et mal cuit. La «sympathie » du serveur nous avons pu la voir au moment où il nous apporté l’addition, je pense qu’il était content que nous partions sûrement pour finir son service et partir. Bref mauvaise expérience, restaurant à fuir.

Great service. The beef stew is the move here. Delicious. My boyfriend finished every drop. They had great wine and the space was in a wonderful part of town. We highly enjoyed this dinner.

You can enjoy here very good local Portuguese food!
The restaurant ist a small location with multiple small tables, but this has no negative effect on the atmosphere.
Service ist good, as usual in Portugal.
The prices are reasonable for the area.

Easily the best place we ate during our visit to Lisbon. Of the 4 nights we stayed, we ate here twice for dinner. Try the Octopus Pico Style! If they have any of the 24 month aged Black Pork Ham it’s a must - be warned, it sells out fast. The pork cheek is stewed with an incredible flavour profile you will find no where else. Without a doubt, a 5 star experience. I recommend making a reservation ahead, otherwise it is definitely worth the wait.

We stayed a week in Portugal and ate out almost for every meal. Alfama Cellar was definitely one of our favorite places in the whole trip. The staff was very friendly (despite us being among the last people before closing hour) and the food was absolutely delicious. The portions (as always in Portugal) were generous and the prices affordable. Could not recommend enough. Don't forget to end your feast with a delicious Port wine

A lovely small restaurant. Good, fresh delicious food and nice people who are willing to help you.
We had bread and olive oil and a plate of cheese and meat as a starter. And both of us took the lamb stew for main course.
It is recommended to make a reservation.

Excellente cuisine et service très professionnel dans plusieurs langues. Pulpe et poisson excellents; joue de porc délicieuse. La sélection de vins est très supérieure à la moyenne de Lisbonne. Huit choix de vins au verre. Fermée le mercredi et se rempli rapidement; venir avant 20h.

The Lamb dish (Borrego) was by far the best prepared lamb that we have eaten. My dish- Feijoada Bacalhau was also eaten to the last bite. Our waiter was very helpful and full of pride in his food and restaurant and helped us choose a good wine to accompany our meal. I suspect he might also have been the owner. Very cozy, rustic atmosphere set in a quintessentially charming old neighborhood- The Alfama.

If you are in Lisbon you should definitely try this restaurant. Extremely friendly staff in fabulous dishes. We tried three different dishes which all were amazing. We liked the places so much that we made reservation for the next day as well. Prices are under 20 euro per dish and portions are good. If they offer Fado music then it would give it 5 star.

Delicious food and amazing local wine. We got almost everything that was on the menu and spend a wonderful evening devouring tasty octopus Pico style, lamb, oxtail, fish and prawns. The wine was recommended by the tavern owner and it was fantastic. The place is fairly small - booking a table in advance is recommended.

This place was amazing! Such an authentic atmosphere, the lamb stew was delicious, the wine superbe (I sadly don’t remember the name of it) and the service so nice (professional yet friendly like you’d expect it from a nice uncle, with jokes and all).

Petite perle lisboète... On aurait put commander 3 x la salad de poulpe qui était addictive. Les joues de veau sont un regal et le personnel est gentil, attentionné et de bon conseil. Que dire de plus, on a adoré et on y retournera les yeux fermés.

The waiter was so very welcoming and professional. A warm atmosphere and some of the best food I've ever had in Europe, the chefs out done themselves. A must go if you are in the alfama area!

We had dinner here tonight and had 3 of the few dishes in the menu. The baked cod, skillet of fish and prawns and the octopus rice. It was not bad but not remarkable at all. No wine list, you have to choose from the wall. Ok service. I can't see why so many 5 stars. You bring home a reminder of the food. Your clothes smelling the whole menu.

We visited this restaurant on 3rd December 2018. I had the Portuguese Lamb Stew which was terrible. It was all bone, gristle and fat and no meat. I managed to extract a piece of meat the size of half a finger out of lots of bone and gristle. I complained and was given more pieces of bone with nothing edible on. Service was ok but not brilliant. This was the worst meal we had in our 4 days in Lisbon.

Sehr nettes und gemütliches kleines Lokal in der Alfama. Der Service war ausgesprochen freundlich und hat die Gerichte ausführlich erklärt. Auch der Wein war gut, die kleine Vorspeisenplatte mit Käse und Wurst ok. ABER: Das Essen war eine einzige Enttäuschung. Wir hatten Bacalhau gebacken mit Gemüse und nur Gemüse als vegetarisches Gericht bestellt. Beide Gerichte waren absolut geschmacklos, das Gemüse war in riesigen Stücken einfach nur weich gekocht und schaute völlig lieblos zubereitet aus. Nach einigen Bissen konnten wir es wirklich nicht mehr essen, ganz furchtbar. Zudem waren die Preise für diese Qualität viel zu hoch. Womöglich haben wir die falschen Gerichte gewählt, denn wir haben uns zum Besuch des Restaurants aufgrund der vielen positiven Bewertungen verleiten lassen. Da Ambiente und Service gut waren, gibt es trotz des einzigen Reinfalls unseres Portugal-Urlaubs noch drei Sterne.

Came in only because we stay in the apartment in the same building and we were too tired to look anywhere else with a child. Lucky we did. Most delicious food we've eaten so far in Lisbon. Nicely served, very tasty with professional service. At first we thought it was a bit expensive, but when the food arrived we realized it was worth every penny. Too bad we didn't take pictures because it looked great. Tasted even better. We're coming back though. Beetroot gaspacho and duck for main top class.

The place was packed at 6:30 in a town that is supposed to dine really late. So we wedged our way in and we were glad we did. Service was great for a place that was jumping in activity. Food was great. Large selection. Wonderful specials.

Zuvorkommender Service und wirklich leckeres Essen. Cataplana mit Meeresfrüchten für 2 Personen kostete 33€, mit super viel Fisch, Muscheln etc darin.
Man sollte unbedingt ein oder zwei von den frischen Desserts probiert haben und der günstigste Wein (4€ pro Glas) war schon super.
Wenn wir nochmal in Lissabon sind kommen wir wieder

Great experience here with the wine and food, good prices too. The only reason I haven’t given 5 stars is down to service. We are English speaking of course, but from a reastaurant specialising in offering very good wines I think it is nice to explain a bit about the different wines and regions they are from, same goes with the cheese platter we received. Thankfully we asked and were rewarded with the excellent knowledge of the waiter. Basically, if they have a table available you should eat here, you won’t be disappointed

Nous avons dîner hier soir à 4 et l'endroit est très sympa. Je n'ai pas été déçu par la cuisine traditionnelle et sa qualité. Je vous conseille le "Cataplana" mélange de poissons et crustacés, avec une bonne sangria rouge. Accueil bilingue très agréable

Absolutely gorgeous, long, lazy lunch on our first day in Lisbon. Excellent wine recommendation from our host and the food was true Portuguese style and delicious. Highlights included the salt cod, prawns and veal cheeks. We hope to go back again before we leave. Honestly, if you find yourself in the charming, cobbled hills of Alfama, look up Alfama Cellar, it's well worth a visit!

Nice place and good food! The waiters were friendly and they guided us to choose between the best portoguese specialities. Price in the average with the other restaurants, 37 euros for two mains, two desserts and drinks. Highly recommended, to book the table if possible!

The food and wine were good. Interior and music are good as well. However the service quality was very poor. Unfriendly waiters without any smile on their faces and very slow. You can go there for a dinner but don’t except too much or something special such as cosy evening with inviting atmosphere.

Os legumes divinais.
O maior cuidado elugio que posso fazer é não ter sentido a necessidade de molhos ou limão para comer o marisco.

We really enjoyed this small and cozy restaurant in Alfama. The food was excellent. They offer traditional Portuguese food, but upgraded. In addition they have a wide selection of wines. Prices are fair for the quality.

Go somewhere else.
Long waiting times for food, awful and rude service and poorly cooked food. In particular, we had fishy tasting cod and undercooked bloody pork chops - served an hour after we ordered. Spend your money elsewhere.
Actually, the Corkscrew Wine Bar just down the road is much better in terms of food and service...I would go there.

The duck stew is absolutely amazing! The duck has so much flavor. The sauce is the best.
To give you an idea of how good this is. I went there at 9:40pm. Opened the door and the owner asked 'are you booked?' I said no and he said you have to wait for half an hour. However, there were at least 4 empty tables at the time but he insisted I had to wait. During the half an hour wait outside on the streets, I noticed there were always empty tables. After half an hour I entered and finally got a table among one of the empty tables. I honestly don't know why he made me wait for half an hour. All being said, if it's some other restaurants, I would turn away within a split second. But this place has food that's good enough to make me come back and wait for half an hour on the streets when there were clearly empty tables. Most importantly, I still feel extremely satisfied after the meal.

The food was tasty, staff was helpful and speak English. Duck stew was too much for me. Two people can easily share it together. Pork cheek was a smaller portion though. We enjoyed the experience and food. They had different wine alternatives.

Une adresse sublime dans un petit espace et avec dés goûts grandioses une petite rue retirée vers la station sao apolonia une soupe de poisson délicieuse diffèrent de celle que l’on connais pour les français mais super ensuite des plats servis dans des cocottes en fonte ou en cuivre et des plats servis chauds si vous aimez les ragoûts vous êtes à la bonne adresse des ragoûts de veau de joue de porc d’agneau de poisson avec des portions que vous avez du mal à finir je reviens sur le goût car c’est exceptionnel et avec des produits frais les légumes qui accompagnent sont d’une excellente fraîcheur et la viande se défait à la cuillère d’où cuisson lente s’ajoute à tout ça un service et un accueil sans pareil nous avons eu RITA QUI a pris le temps de nous expliquer les plats de nous faire goûter le vin pour choisir celui qui nous convenait et d’être très attentionnée
C’est pour moi le meilleur restaurant que j’ai connu à Lisbonne après de multiples essais comme quoi il est bon de sortir un peut du centre et d’en garder un souvenir mémorable
Je peux paraître un peu dithyrambique mais franchement allez-y pour un prix en dessous de la qualité et de la quantité tout est copieux

El lugar puede resultar un poco más caro y turístico que otros en Lisboa, pero lo vale. Comí un estofado de pato del que no me olvido: cocina de nivel. La atención es excelente, el lugar muy agradable.

Great place with wonderful, friendly staff (particularly Lorena). They couldn't have been more helpful in talking us through the menu. Particularly liked their approach to wine...you tell them what you want or don't want and they serve a wine to meet your tastes (in our case a very nice, local white).
As for the food? Brilliant! Cellar mackerel, fish soup and (bright green) lentil soup for our starters, followed by a huge cataplana, roasted codfish with spinach, and grandmother's (veal) stew for mains. A great chocolate mousse, boozy poached pear and a coffee to finish.
The bill of €94 (including the bottle of wine) really was astonishing given the quality of food and service!
We got in early on a Friday evening without a reservation, but the place soon got busy after we arrived...so reservation is advised!
A great find! Get there!

We had a great experience here, staff was knowledgeable, super friendly and the food was great. I’m celiac and cannot eat gluten, that was no problem here, everything could be adapted to my dietary requirements so I could eat and share different dishes with my boyfriend and just enjoy the experience. Bonus for being a restaurant with a calm atmosphere, no loud music, just people having a nice evening.

Excellent restaurant ! Personnel adorable et souriant, parle français et anglais. Très bon accueil et très bon conseil pour le vin selon vos goûts et votre budget.
Nous avons pris un ragoût de canard et un ragoût d'agneau, les plats sont delicieux et très copieux.
En dessert nous avons goûté et découvert la tarte aux pois chiche sucré, délicieuse !
Tout était parfait ! Excellent rapport qualité/ prix!

Very average food for the price. Tourist trap with many Americans. Let owner/ head maître de know I was not impressed with the food and he assumed I had only ever had grilled fish. I have travelled to and eaten local style fish in over 50 countries. Very condescending.

Typical local place? No. Typical Portuguese food? YES!
We've been to Alfama Cellar twice and every time the staff was super friendly towards us tourists (speaking Portuguese, Frenche and English), the food was to die for, and the restaurant itself is pretty and cozy. Without a reservation you will have to wait- but you can take a small chair and sit on the sidewalk and the staff will bring you excellent wine while you wait. We waited 40 minutes and had a lovely time anyway.
Be prepared that there are only tourists here. But I'd say you'll be hard pressed to find genuine local restaurants in that part of Alfama, since those tend to be too rustic (not pretty enough) for the usual tourists.

We had a great evening at Alfama Cellar. Our server was excellent and started by making a fabulous wine recommendation that we enjoyed very much. We ordered the lamb and grandmother stew. Although the flavors were very mild, both were very good dishes. We finished with the lemon and fig moose. It is a very refreshing dessert, a must have!

Unfortunately, service was bad. We waited over 45min for our food (several tables were served, although they arrived after us) - no apology from the waiter, when we addressed the issue. Meat was cold, fish was dry. However, quality was good, the dishes looked nice, and would have been tasty with better timing.

Love their beetroot gaspacho with olive oil ice-cream! Most of their dishes come in vintage-style casseroles and the veggie siders are as delicious as the main meals.

Deliciously excellent! We didn’t have a reservation and fortunately we were able to be seated straight away (8:30pm, 2ppl). A few people after us had to wait 10-20mins, most seated quickly. The food was delicious and traditional. We especially recommend the fish and prawn Cataplana. The wait staff were excellent, friendly and happy to explain everything. They were a great help choosing wine as well. Would definitely recommend / repeat.

Highly reccomend the octopus salad! Walked in after some strolling in Alfama, tho I would reccomend a reso if you're more than two people. Great ambiance and wine selection. Docked a star because of the service. The server seemed experienced, but the table was overlooked for a large portion of the meal. I would say this is a fantastic place to eat when you have a lot time on your hands to enjoy a slow-paced meal.

Dopo aver girato in lungo e in largo il Portogallo, ultimo giorno mi fermo a pranzare ad Alfama Cellar, mai mangiato peggio, baccalà servito bollito con patate novelle quasi marce e ceci ( di quelli che in scatola della bonduelle sono sicuramente più buoni) , da nere che erano, il baccalà vabbé, è straconservato che non può diventare marcio. Ma non era il massimo, avevo 2 ragazzi vicini di tavolo ai quali hanno portato una zuppa di pesce. Dentro una pentola in terracotta, alzato il coperchio mi veniva da vomitare dalla puzza da pesce marcio, ma mi chiedo come cavolo si fa a dire che si mangia bene su sto posto?
P. S. Mangio pesce da 40 anni...e qua sicuramente non ci torno

A cozy small restaurant with very nice service. We loved the grandmother stew(a veal dish) and the cod & shrimp rice very much. They also recommended us a kind of tasty fruity white wine which just matched our meal. Finally, we had cherry and chocolate ice cream to end this wonderful night.

This place made me want to take back any prior 5 star rating as this experience was a whole new level! We had the best dinner of our trip here. We went early so it was not crowded, and the waiter was incredible. He recommended a local wine and walked us through their short but well thought out menu. We started with a cheese and meat board and the cold version of the soup. The seafood was fresh and perfectly seasoned and the veal steak from a local farm was outstanding. Overall the service and the food was unbeatable!! I highly recommend and plan to go back.

Tourist trap. In the beginning I have to admit that we saw it coming and we didn’t want to dine here but it was about 7pm and most of the good restaurants hadn’t been open yet. But eventualy we had to eat somewhere and I guess this is the reason why this restaurant still has customers.
As a starter we ordered cheese&sausages plate and olives with bread. Cheese and sausages were average, olives too hard and not tasty. We decided to have steamed cod (named as old Lisbon in the menu) and roasted cod as the main course. There was 4 of us and 3 of us ordered roasted one. One of them was so salty that it wasn’t eatable, the other 2 was below average. Steamed cod was overcooked, swimming in a soup with vegetables and the taste was just bad. When the waiter asked us how was our meal after we’ve finished, we admitted it was bad and complained about extremely salty cod one of us had had. He replied that they didn’t add any salt - no wonder when the meal is made from the fish which is delievered all in salt... After all we didn’t have to pay for one the fish which was nice and that is why I gave two stars instead of one. But still I wouldn’t recommend this restauraunt to anyone.

Very good food. We arrived early in the evening and it was very quiet. The menu was mostly meat and fish, but there was a couple of vegetarian options. A good choice of wine and beer. We had an amazing meal at this restaurant. The waiter was friendly and knowledgeable. He speaks 5 languages and was eager to share the love of his food and wine with us. The concept of this restaurant is "market to pot" , preparing a selection of authentic portugese stews featuring fresh ingredients. We had their pig ear salad to start, then shared a pumpkin apple soup. For our mains we had osso buco and a traditional portugese fish stew . Everything was fantastic. With a glass of wine and a soft drink our bill came to €34. Very reasonable for a huge amount of food. In fact when I asked him about the green wines he brought a sample for me to taste. First rate and highly recommended.

Actually, we have tried a lot of restaurant and it was not very tasty, chorizo was contained too much fat, seefood was not very good, price was soo high.

This place is a great find. It’s still very reasonably priced for excellent tasty traditional food. The wine selection is stunning, I recommend the vinho verde which they get bottled exclusively for themselves. For starters we had prawns and the beetroot gazpacho which were both great. Amrita was an excellent hostess, and the waiter was knowledgeable - recommending an amazing red wine to go with our main of lamb stew and rabbit stew (according to our budget). I was worried this could be a tourist trap but it is actually a genuine and fantastic restaurant. If you’re in Alfama, it’s worth every penny.

Wir sind jetzt schon zum zweiten Mal hier. Urgemütliches kleines Restaurant in Alfama. Authentische portugiesische Gerichte mit viel liebe zubereitet. Außerdem ausgezeichnete Auswahl verschiedener heimischer Weine. Der Service ist sehr freundlich und behilflich die einzelnen Angebote zu erklären. Die Qualität des Essens ist ausgezeichnet! Würde jederzeit wiederkommen.

El sitio es bonito, y el camarero fue muy amable. Nos estuvo explicando las distintas regiones vinícolas de Portugal. El vino fue caro, pero eso pasa también en España (un vino que en tienda cuesta 6€, nos costó 4€ la copa). Ambiente tranquilo.

Nice Restaurant along dos Remedios. The service is exceptional with a friendly staff. We were promptly seated with water and wine offering. The menu is written in chalk and seems to be rotated. The bread offered is an additional charge and not complimentary. The food we ordered came out fast and was very tasty. The restaurant can also get crowded during busy hours.

Disappointed !
I dont understand the good reviews...Overpriced, very slow service: as starter gambas: 7 small gambas, nothing fancy, for12 Euros ! The main course even worse: goat stew with goat bones only. We paid 50 euros for 2 persons and were still hungry. The waiter did not ask us how the meal was, well maybe he knew the answer. Only tourists inside. I have eaten much better and cheaper in Portugal. Avoid!

Atendimento fraco e comida cara. Não tem um bom custo benefício. É bem servido, mas o sabor deixa a desejar. Não possui um cardápio de bebidas, o garçom simplesmente nos disse que os vinhos estavam expostos, para escolhermos. As bebidas são caras e por não haver cardápio dificulta a escolha.

Meal was ok, we payed 33€ for a bowl with fish potatoes and vegetables. The fish was not very special and not much, for the same stuff but better, I payed 8€ in Hamburg!
At the beginning we got some bread with I don’t know what.. We did not ordered it and thought it is included in our meal.
But no it was a 3,50€ bread..
Sorry guys, no tip and no come back.

This was the first restaurant we tried on our trip to Lisbon and it set a high standard. Its away from the center of town and not near a road so a bit of a trek for most people to get to. But well worth the effort. The staff are friendly. After watching a nearby table enjoy it my friend and I both opted for the lamb stew which was very tasty. Kept meaning to go back but wanted to try more restaurants and ran of of evenings.

Thieves! We ordered octopus salad to go. We did not check our order until we got home -- mistake! Our container was only half filled with octopus salad, the other half was some of the worst hummus I've ever had. My advice: Don't give these people any money until you check what they've handed you.

Food, wine and staff all good! I decided to try this restaurant because the have a menu with some traditional Portuguese recipes that are hard to find in Lisbon like Lamb stew or Cataplana and even Pork cheek slowly cooked with vegetables. I tried the pork cheeks and they melted in your mouth. The tomato soup was also delicious. Prices are ok from 25 to 30€ for a nice dinner

Wir haben hier sehr gut gegessen und die Atmosphäre sehr genossen. Die Bedienung war super freundlich und zuvorkommend, hat uns einige Gerichte erklärt und gute Empfehlungen gegeben. Die Küche ist landestypisch, preislich sind die Hauptgänge zwischen 9€ und 14€. 0,4l Bier vom Fass 3€. Wir hatten Gazpacho und gegrilltes Kalb sowie Bacalao (gekochter Stockfisch, Kabeljau). Alles war sehr gut abgeschmeckt, gewürzt und von der Menge her absolut zufrieden stellend. Sehr empfehlenswert!

Good ambiance, wines everywhere! Friendly, cute staff. They have a daily menu, we chose typical Portugese stews and they were great! Very tender meat and seafood. Portions were big and affordable!

The food here is excellent. It's simple, home style and delicious. I enjoyed an entree of grilled eggplant topped with ceviched salmon. The flavour was out of this world. For main i enjoyed the veal osso bocco slow cooked with vegetables. Also delicious. Finished off with a fresh baked sweet pineapple cake. These guys took pride in their dishes and in where they sourced their ingredients from. Service was friendly, attentive and casual.

It's a shame- this place used to be under different management/ownership. Used to come here all the time but don't think we'll be visiting again anytime soon. Rushed service, the wine sommelier that used to work here sadly is gone. Still friendly people but different touches to dishes we used to love. It's just another tourist spot in Alfama now.

Twee keer in een week hier gegeten. Iedere dag traditionele Portugese gerechten. Super aardige bediening. Wijn wordt uitgebreid uitgelegd. Heerlijk natuurlijke smaken, voor ieder wat wils. Geen uitgebreide kaart, maar wat erop staat is subliem. Grote porties en een gezellige entourage.
We verbleven 9 nachten in Lissabon. We hebben hier 2 x gegeten. De eerste keer was zo goed bevallen. (h)eerlijke streekgerechten, eenvoudig bereid maar ontzettend lekker. Grote porties, dus ook geschikt voor de grote eter. Geweldige presentatie van de gerechten. Super vriendelijke bediening. Ik had hier nog wel 2 x willen eten. Ruime keuze en de bediening doet er alles aan om je te helpen bij je keuze. FANTASTISCH!

Very friendly staff, good sommelier who advised the excellent sobral with the aged ham. We had the 4 fish stew and the cataplana washed down by a fruity vinho verdhe. Cosy and great!

We booked here for an early dinner after a day of sightseeing in the area. On arrival we were warmly greeted, and to the amazing aroma of the wood burning stove. After having our choice of table, the waiter explained the dishes available to us that night. My wife and I couldn't fault any of the food we ordered, and the wine recommendation was spot-on. Prices were extremely reasonable and we thoroughly enjoyed our evening here.

On arrive, on nous sert un petit vin blanc magnifique. Le service incroyable et en français. On nous dit que le menu change tous les jours et on nous décrit TOUS les plats avec passion et précision .
On prend des entrées à partager, une assiette entière de Pata Negra et une assiette de fromage/confiture. Incroyable, noisetté et hyper fin.
Le sommelier arrive et nous conseille un vin génial.
On prends ensuite tous un truc différent : agneau, lotte, gambas, etc... Chaque plat arrive dans des quantités dingues, le bouillon de chaque met est brûlant dans des cocottes en fonte et sent merveilleusement bon.
On galère à tout finir tellement il y'en à c'est fin et en même temps en grande quantité. On prend une deuxième bouteille de vin pour nous donner du courage.
Je conseille doublement.
