A true gem in Lisbon. Really incredible food in a cosy setting! Very high quality and original dishes. We went 2 times in our 4 day stay because it was THAT good and wanted to try all the dishes on the menu! Try the raw fish tacos, saucy quinoa and ceviche! All SO good!
Note: only cash and suitable for vegetarians/vegans as they have a veggie menu!

This was a recommendation from our local guide and we really enjoyed it! The fish tacos were great (and coming from San Diego, CA we had high expectations. It's in a neat neighborhood to explore after dinner. NOTE - they only accept Portuguese credit cards so bring Euros.

EXCEPTIONALLY GOOD! it's a different take on traditional portugues food like i never taste before. The fish cake ala bolinho da bacalhau was delicious and fresh. But the mais attraction is the really soft perfectly cooked Octopus that is to die for! Wow!

Le Agua pela barba est une petite pépite du quartier.
Le restaurant propose des plats à partager et recommande par ailleurs de commander 3/4 plats si vous êtes 2.
La cuisine est du type bistronomie.
Nous avions choisi le tataki de thon, les tacos de poissons ainsi que le poulpe grillé accompagné de pois chiches (à tomber !!!)
Pour un dîner, il faudra absolument réserver car le restaurant se remplit très vite !

Decepcionante,
Fomos almoçar hoje neste restaurante. Chegamos primeiros, mas fomos atendidos em a seguir aos outros, atendimento muito lento e selectivo. Os funcionários deram prioridade a um grupo de estrangeiros que chegou, a única coisa que nos trouxeram a tempo foi a conta : ). No menu que nos entregaram a cidra tinha um preço, já na conta estavam 50 sentimos a a mais. Comemos "Burrata" uma combinação estranha de queijo e camarão que continha água do camarão. As vieiras estavam boas. O polvo muito mole, desfazia-se e sem sabor em muito pouca quantidade. A ceviche vegetariana: péssima. Voltar ? Nunca mais.

Água pela Barba proved to be an acceptable dinning experience with well conceived, yet non-impressive, dishes. The Arancinis and the crab Bao were so so. The tuna Tiradito, the fried fish tacos and the sea rice were very nice. The desserts were pretty average.

After disappointed with a few other seafood restaurants recommended by friends, we were lucky to find this little place. Creative cuisine
Perfect for sharing. Raw fish taco and fried fish taco are a must! The service was ok... But didn't really mind it. I wished my belly had more room in it because I really wanted to try the whole menu.

Excellent and busy little place, great food, great service and sensible pricing. If you're a couple you'll probably have to share a table (we were lucky and the other guests were friendly and interesting). You need to book.

太好吃了！提拉米苏没有非常甜，非常好吃。 Small dishes里面，seared Tuna超级好吃，洋葱配上超级香！fried fish taco非常好吃！总之就是好吃好吃好吃！Amazing！一开始不相信评价里说的，吃完觉得，要不是第二天晚上就要飞走，肯定要再来吃一次！尤其是提拉米苏！

Oggettivamente i piatti sono di buona qualità anche se personalmente non mi sono piaciuti (per via delle spezie usate). Il prezzo però è eccessivo per la quantità. In 3 abbiamo pagato 51 euro (prendendo solo acqua da bere) e ci siamo alzati che avevamo ancora fame. Speriamo di trovare un kebabbaro per rimediare. Il servizio è nella media, forse un po' scarso (non velocissimo e curato). Ma il prezzo è decisamente eccessivo per l'offerta. Tra l'altro non si può pagare con carte estere, solo portoghesi. Il portafoglio piange e la pancia langue.

Extremely expensive for the quality and the quantities. The food is okay, but not good enough given the price. I left the place rather frustrated... Moreover, they only accept Portuguese credit cards.

Well priced and delicious food on offer. Agua pela Barba is located in a cool area of Lisbon, and everything from the atmosphere to quality of food. Me and two friends ordered three dishes to share, and all three featured high quality seafood in intriguing dishes. A Tuna Tataki was especially impressive, and a shrimp and burrata combination fared equally well.

What a great restaurant! I had the octopus and the signature cocktail and found myself wanting more with every bite. The setting was also great - cozy and warm. The service was perfect - attentive but not in my face all the time ... I will surely eat here on my next trip to Lisbon

This place is a must visit! Food is simply amazing! The menu items we had were “Salmon from our garden,” “Scallops,” and “Agua pela barba octopus.” Everything tasted unbelievably good and was cooked to perfection. We’re in Lisbon for another week, and we’ll definitely be back to try more dishes (hopefully all of them :) Wine is served as a whole bottle only, and no international cards accepted, only Portugese cards or cash. Highly recommended!!!

Fantastisch gegeten in dit drukke shared dining restaurant. De visgerechten zijn van geweldige kwaliteit. Ik zou aanraden om meerdere kleine gerechtjes te kiezen. Prijs kwaliteit is goed. Je zit wel bij andere mensen aan tafel, dit vonden wij niet erg, omdat wij naast gezellige mensen zaten. Enige minpunt is dat ze het eten wel echt snel uitserveren.

You’ll want a cold glass of rose after walking all the steps to get here, which will feel great. Get the cod cakes, a Lisbon specialty. They fry it perfectly and pair it with a sauce that reminds me of sriracha mayo. The ceviche is very flavorful and fresh, and definitely get the tártaro polvo. We finished it off with scallops with cucumber and lemon sauce. Also delish. Highly recommend you come here!

The food is excellent. The service has always been good... until today. We booked a table for 8 pm through 'The Fork'. We sat at that time. However, some of our fellows were late and arrived only at 9 pm. The waitress warned us that she had a reservation for 10pm. At 9.58 pm we wanted to ask for our last dish (it's a tapas restaurant) and we were told we wouldn't be served because of that reservation. The restaurant was almost empty and only a small group to be seated. It could be really simple to serve us asking us to hurry up, which we would have for sure. Unfortunately, no flexibility or simpathy from the waitress. I was a regular customer, but won't come back for sure (and feeling bad about it).

Esperamos para entrar por indicaciones de la camarera ya que el suelo estaba mojado a las 13:10 cosa que entendimos, aunque su horario de apertura fuesen las 12:30. Tras esperar, y viendo que ya estaba el suelo seco, pasamos dentro. Lo único que recibimos fue un suspiro de la camarera cuando pisamos el suelo que ella acababa de limpiar el cual ya estaba seco. Se quedaron las marcas de nuestros zapatos cosa que le molesto. Cogimos la puerta y nos fuimos ya que nos costó varios tramos de escalera buscando el sitio para luego recibir ese trato tan feo.

Absolutely magnificent. Wish I could go there whenever I wanted, but alas as a tourist, we have just fleeting glimpses of the inspired cuisine we discover sling the way. The arancini with squid ink were a revelation. The sea rice a triumph and the sensations fish of octopus was frankly, something we are still talking about. Great staff, book ahead for the next day as it gets busy and enjoy.. suggest a bottle of rosé with your meal. Portuguese wine may be the quiet achiever globally. Delicious!

OK, the starters were actually tasty (ceviche, cod cakes, tuna). The golden risotto was liked by others of my group, no so by me, so I take the blame. However, the place got insanely hot inside, it was noisy because of the huge crowd squeezed there and the poor waiter guy (who was later joined by a lady) were just unable to run all the tables by himself. Tourist trap, and expensive one too. If you're after real Portuguese food, avoid, if you're after feeling like a hipster in a pretty little typical street devouring the atmosphere, then go. For me a big management fail.

Extremamente caro para o que se come. Saímos com fome após termos pago um menu nada barato. A comida era boa mas em doses pequenas. Os níveis de ruído inacreditavelmente elevados e as pessoas mal cabiam, pois a sala estava demasiado lotada. Apenas dou mais uma estrela por o funcionário ter sido agradável. Um lugar a não voltar.

Food is simply stunningly good! Just go there and try for yourself if you don't trust me and other reviewers! Such a great combination of flavours. Ceviche are amazing, the octopus main is scrumptious and rich, the desserts are mouth-wateringly good!

- serveurs qui comprend l'anglais
- fraîcheurs et qualité des aliments
Négatif :
- Une faible quantité autant de nourriture que d'accompagnement
- Raison de plus pour trouver les prix assez excessif (15 euros un plat avec pas grand chose dedans. Un accompagnement aurait été vraiment la bienvenue pour ce prix la)
Résultat un bon restaurant de haute qualité mais qui laisse un arrière goût amer quand on connaît les petits restaurant typique du coin certe pas aussi bon mais vraiment vraiment moins cher pour un plat qui force l'admiration de la cuisine locale.

My favorite restaurant in Lisbon! I'd come back every time I visit the city.
The price-quality-quantity ratio cannot be beat by other restaurants. It's a pretty small restaurant so for dinner I'd recommend getting a reservation. I also went for lunch and it was pretty easy to get a seat without waiting.
MUST GET: Fish tacos (fried), octopus, cod croquettes, pork cheek, burrata. But honestly, we got almost the whole menu and you can't really go wrong!
DON'T GET: nothing really but if you force me to say something to avoid, I'd say the Gold Rice was not mind blowing as compared to the other dishes.
Highly recommend coming to this restaurant when visiting Lisbon!

One of the best meals we had in Lisbon. There were just as many locals eating here as tourist which is always a good sign. The staff where very attentive and explained that the menu was made up of smaller dishes to share and how many we should order. He said the octopus was their best dish and he wasn't wrong, the cod fritters where very tastey as well. Only downside is they only except Portuguese bank cards so you need to pay by cash otherwise. Reasonablely priced for a very good quality of food, drink and service.

Found Agua Pela Barba by chance wandering Bairro Alto from our accomodation. Cozy, bustling and inviting we were happy to get the only table not occupied without a reservation. The octopus was the best we've ever tasted and the shrimp rice so tasty I could've had seconds. A great restaurant we would recommend to anyone.
