We returned our car with the same amount of gas upon pickup (7/8th) of a tank and we're told that we would be charged a full tank because it was not full. It would have been 60 euros. How ridiculous. You need to reevaluate this process.

Tenia la reserva pagada completa y me cobran nuevamente el alquiler.
Además para cobrar extra te dicen "te conviene este vehículo porque tiene mejor consumo y vas a ahorrar en combustible" y bla bla.
Cuando investigas bien es todo puro verso. 2 semanas y aún no responden el reclamo.

Bom lugar pra pegar um carro e passear por Lisboa. Locação fácil e tranquila. Carros novos, inclusive uma Mercedes pra 9 pessoas, se estiver em grupo. Bom preço e facilidades de entrega sem pressão de horário no aeroporto ( onde há uma estação de metro, o que é interessante na hora ds devolução ).

Update: After coming back with a new reservation for a smaller car, I was helped by the staff member (usually sitting on the right side), who is extremely friendly, helpful and polite. So I am changing my review back to 5 stars. Please be sure to get the guy on the right side to help you, even if you have to wait.
My first experiences here were fine, I got a cheap car, by having cheap yearly excess insurance at Questor. However today, I suddenly got confronted with an additional liability of €17000 beside the excess, which is only covered with an additional €34 / day insurance. The staff member that helped me today was very pushy on selling me additional insurance, and tried to make me feel stressed out. She wouldn't let me change my reservation to a smaller car.

Car was very good, but they block money on your card, not mentioning that it will be unblocked in 5 days after you return the car and not suggesting to leave it cash. So you return the car and remain without €1.5k (may differ depending on the car, mine was Fiat 500X MT) for the rest of your trip. That's awful attitude that caused lots of problems.

Imaginava mais atenção. Ficamos muito tempo na espera; não foram fazer a conferência do carro conosco, tivemos que chamar o funcionário para fazer pois no sistema não tinha todos os defeitos (arranhões etc) registrados. E nos disponibilizaram um carro muito maior do que tínhamos escolhido na reserva. Por contato telefônico tentamos algumas vezes falar com a loja e não obtivemos sucesso em nenhuma delas.

When we arrived 1 hour after our reservation the place was closed. When we came back the next morning at opening time they had canceled our reservation and given away our car.
Worst of all, the agent did not show the slightest bit of empathy.
On top of all that, they refused to refund us for our 3 day rental.
This place deserves to be burned to the ground.

Rented here, dropped in Porto downtown on October 2, 2018. Great service, excellent vehicle. One concern - the damage inspection at checkout was cursory, and missed damage that could have caused me a problem at dropoff. This was corrected before departure... to the best of my ability, which is limited. This always causes me huge angst, but there was no problem at Porto drop. Wouldn't it be great peace of mind if rental companies automatically provided a ongoing record of previously noted damage for every vehicle?

I recently rented a motorcycle here and the check out staff failed to mention that our return date was a holiday and they would be closed. After an hour on the phone trying to figure out a location that accepts motorcycles, they told us to take them to the airport location since it was the only one open. Just as we were putting our helmets on to ride to the airport, Marta, while on her day off happened to be driving by and pulled in and saved us a 2 hour journey. Thank you so much for helping us on your day off. Its good to know that there are still great people in this world.

Perhaps when I went there it wasn't high season. I went at around 9:30 on a weekday; I waited for less than 5 minutes for my turn. The person who helped me was very friendly and helpful, even allowed me to take a look at the cars available before deciding on which to take. She also gave me a better rate than my reservation after I chose my car (reserved MB A-class or equivalent, chose Mini 5-door).

eles fazem cobrança indevida no seu cartão se você fecha a diária por 30 euros no final você paga 80 euros , eles bloqueiam valores exorbitantes no seu cartão para vocês terem noção ela para pagar entorno de 1300 euros e no meu cartão foram descontado 4500 euros. liguei para reclamar so podem resolver através de email, e sendo que para responder o seu email é no mínimo 15 dias. mas a fatura do cartão chaga ta e você tem que pagar !!!!! O carro alugado era novo com bateria danificada eu tive que trocar o carro no meio da viagem porque a bateria morreu. Os funcionários são despreparados lerdos sem informação e quando eu troquei o carro o via verde estava desativado.
quando o meu marido entregou o carro não teve nenhum comprovante você não assina e nem recebe NADA o rapaz nem viu a gasolina e falou que mandaria a conta por email . e o email nunca chegou!!!! olha não sei como são as outras mas essa aqui é roubada!!!

Poor customer service experience, Hertz in Europe is always trying to sell extras without listening to me, They tried to give us an equivalent car of my booking request, I had to argue at the counter desk to have a ford focus station wagon but still finished with a poor Nisan Juke, at least it was diesel. The lady at the counter desk was kind but when a I refused the insurance and also the upgrade car (and also have to argue to have a diesel car) she strated to act like she did not wanted to help me anymore. We were with a baby, our car was not ready at the time we asked, we waited for 1 hour after all the paper work done.
Bad experience, next time I will pay a bit more with a different company to feel like a valuable client.

전 좋았어요. 안 좋은 후기가 보여서 걱정했는데, 직원분들 매우 친절하시고 깔끔하게 일처리 해주셨습니다. 골드 회원이라 차 업그레이드 해주셨는데 좋았어요! ㅎㅎ 포르투에서는 sixt 이용했었는데 오히려 현장에서 추가 tax 붙여서 허츠보다 비싸게 이용했었어요. 허츠는 추가요금 전혀 없었고 반납시에도 바로 그냥 가라고 하셨어요. (풀커버리지 보험 들었고 도로에서 사고났을때 무료로 렉카부르는 서비스? 는 추가 안했어요.)
기름은 무조건 full to full로 했어요.
리스본 허츠 좋은 점은 대리점 앞에 주유소가 있어서 반납 시에 따로 다른 주유소 찾을 필요없이 바로 주유 후 반납하면 돼요. 가격도 다른데랑 별로 차이 없었어요.
에어프랑스 이용하시면 허츠랑 제휴되어서 더 저렴하게 이용하실 수 있으니 참고하셔서 이용하시면 좋을 것 같아요.

Tive uma havaria com o carro e o seguro forneceu uma viatura de substituição,cheguei na agência em Pombal e ainda não havia reserva e nem interesse para ajudar,estava com três crianças entre elas um bebé.
O problema principal sei que é da seguradora logo,mas poderiam ter um pouco de vontade em ajudar, ligar para alguém ou oferecer um banco para a mãe e as crianças.

I’ve booked a car for 9:30 pickup, i came in on time, got my ticket from the machine and then waited until 10:05 while being pushed back in the line because some hertz gold member of whatever it is just walked in and got served ahead. At 10:05 I told the lady to cancel my reservation, walked across the street to a local rent a car, Cael: was served right away by an incredibly kind gentleman and in 5 minutes I was driving away.
From now and on I’ll do without Hertz for the time being.

Loueur malhonnête, ça ne vaut même pas 1. Vous fait souscrire des assurances en prétendant qu il vous tarifie une taxe routière obligatoire au Protugal
Et lorsque vous posez la question, plusieurs fois, sur le libellé de ce qui vous est facturé, parce que l'intitulé ressemble plus à une assistance qu'à une taxe, il vous ment droit dans les yeux en vous répondant qu'il s'agit bien d'une taxe.
Ne les croyez donc jamais lorsqu'ils vous parleront d'une mandatory road tax.. en particulier si c'est une brune aux cheveux longs qui vous le redit 3x en s'énervant!
Ce sont des escrocs, et je n'en avais encore jamais rencontré au Portugal!

When we received the car at the airport everything was OK. Kind and friendly staff. We made a mistake on the tolls on Porto so the via Verde system worked. We wanted to pay on spot but they told us to check that with the car rental. Since we are foreigners we went to hertz Lisbon to return the car and asked abt the problem. The employee named Inez was interrupting us the whole time while we were trying to understand how it works and we were asking for help. She said that is our problem we need to fix it ourselves and she cannot give us any INFORMATION than contacting via Verde. I told her that she is being rude because she never let me finish my questions. Her answer was "that's my way....." When I did the same thing to her (interrupting while She was trying to talk) she whispered something in portoguese and she left us saying that she will send somebody else.
REALLY BAD CUSTOMER SERVICE.
The next employee helped us much more

1 Day with Citroen C1 - 150 EUR. The car itself is 40 EUR per day, but they are including everything they can include in your bill. And there are no options. Apart from that they have blocked 200 EUR on a bank account and told us the money will be back in 2 days after car return. For us it was 10 days. Consider another car rental service and have a nice time in Lisbon... without Hertz

Reparei que havia jma diferença no mostrador e prontificaram-se para atestar o veículo. Sabem quanto levou para encher o depósito? 25 litros. Curioso han!!!

Réservation rapide par téléphone et bon contact...... Mais c'est tout, personnes ne répond au téléphone malgré des appels régulier pendant 2 heures. Quand tu finis par avoir quelqu'un, il te dit je ferme dans 5 mn. Appelez demain. Personnellement je ne recommande pas cet établissement. Sauf si vous souhaitez passer des heures supplémentaires, pour trouver un nouveau véhicule. Merci Hertz

Íbamos a realizar una excursión y teníamos que coger el coche a primera hora de la mañana. Fuimos a la dirección que indica en Google Maps, pero la dirección era errónea. Salimos una hora y media más tarde por ello. Lo único que nos dijeron fue que realizáramos una reclamación a un correo electrónico. Todavía no hemos recibido contestación.
Además, cuándo alquile el coche tuve que dejar 173 € a modo de deposito que me dijeron se iban a devolver al entregar el coche. Tuvimos que reclamar repetidas veces para que me devolvieran el importe.

Bei uns war alles perfekt.
Wir reisten in der Hauptsaison und mussten keine 5 Minuten warten bis wir bedient wurden. Es wurden Zusatzversicherungen angeboten, als ich diese aber ablehnte wurde überhaupt kein Druck ausgeübt diese doch zu nehmen. Auch die Kautionshöhe auf meiner Kreditkarte war wie angekündigt bei €280 und nicht über €1500 wie man es hier oft liest.
Da der Laden immer voller wurde mussten wir das Auto bei der Übernahme alleine begutachten und haben hier noch einen dicken Kratzer gefunden der nicht im Protokoll gelistet war.
Um diesen mit ins Protokoll zu nehmen mussten wir ca 30 Minuten warten. Der Mitarbeiter meinte dann zuerst das mein Foto genügen würde. Erst als ich wehement darauf bestanden habe wurde mein Foto wirklich ins Protokoll aufgenommenen. Darum ein Punkt Abzug.
Das Auto war ansonsten super in Schuss und hatte sehr wenige KM.
Zurückgegeben haben wir das Auto in einer anderen Station.
Von mir eine klare Empfehlung. Aber trotzdem gut vorbereitet sein :)

They charged us many extra fees and they “forgot” to mention that taxes were not included in these first announced extras. The rental car (cla Estate) cost more than 450€ for 72hours, which was actually more than our accommodation for 3 person in total. I definitely recommend you to rent from a local company.

Staff are friendly and helpful. We had to queue about 10mins before we could talk to anyone and then waited another half an hr for the car to arrive.
We booked the car from 11am and got it at around 12:30noon. I would have given more stars if the waiting wasn’t this long.

Un modèle de service exécrable et d'arnaque à enseigner dans les écoles.
Personnel méprisant (accueil, restitution du véhicule, et plein du véhicule) se moquant de notre apparence et de notre accent, rajout de frais inexistants à notre facture, un dépôt de garantie de 1650 euros (annoncé à 400e lors de notre réservation).
Je ne pouvais espérer trouver de service plus abominable.
Je vous remercie pour avoir ruiné la fin de mes vacances.

Schickes sauberes Auto. Wir haben einen Automatik Wagen bekommen mit toller Ausstattung.
Bei der Übergabe wurde uns jedoch eine falsche Information zugeteilt: Die Null-Selbstbeteiligung der Vollkasko im Schadensfall bzw. im Falle eines Diebstahls sei nicht in der Buchung enthalten. Aber das war sie doch: Dies wurde zwar nicht direkt bei Hertz mitgebucht, war jedoch über eine Vermittlungsagentur (Cardelmar) abgedeckt. Dies war dem Voucher zu entnehmen: Premium Product.
In deren "Unwissenheit" darüber haben sie uns doppelt versichert und damit die Summe verdoppelt. Noch vor Ort konnten wir die Angelegenheit rückgängig machen, es dauerte jedoch beinahe 4 Stunden, eine Menge Nerven und Hartnäckigkeit, denn das Personal war verständnislos und wurde teilweise unfreundlich. Erst der Filial-Manager gab dann das okay dafür.

Very bad experience with Hertz poor customer quality service they ask you for a high deposit amount make sure you have at least 1500€ in your credit card because it is not mentionned no where!!!
-> They are swindling customers by selling them insurance options (which are at the end obligatory if you want a car)
-> Do CAREFULLY the car check with the staff even if they say it’s ok— it’s NOT OK!
Be very careful... Photos won’t be enough!! With Hertz you will be always guilty!
If you can don’t rent with Hertz!!!

Some difficult reviews here. My experience was great. Quick and friendly service, car was ready and clean, and staff had smiles and walked my to my vehicle. Yes, had Gold service reservation and that probably helped. Recommended. Location was beneficial because of a city centre stay.

Plus d 1h30 pour récupérer un véhicule réservé et payé en ligne... une fois le véhicule en main personne pour en faire le tour, on vous lâche pour passer aux '' autres''. Encore d'autres surprises nous attendaient au guichet quand on vous annonce que ''pour le siège auto il vaut mieux l'acheter vous même en magasin'', et que nous aurons environ 150 euros de supplément. Une expérience avec Hertz que nous ne renouvellerons pas.

I had the worst experience at Hertz in Lisbon. I tried to return the car a day early to my assigned drop off location. As soon as I pulled into the hertz location the police stopped me because apparently you cannot make a left turn into the location. The police officer was stopping a lot of people at Hertz, its like he waits there to ticket people.
My friend and I noticed Hertz was closing soon, so she went inside and told them what was going on and asked if we could still return the car here. They told her they closed the gate and to return the car at the airport location. We asked if we would be charged extra since that was not our drop off location. They said we would NOT be charged extra.
We drive to the airport and upon checkout I noticed Hertz added another 35 Euros to the bill for different drop off location. We told the representative we were told to come to the airport to drop off the car and we wouldn't be charged extra. She said "Sorry, there is nothing I can do for you, call customer service.
Before I left Hertz, I called the customer service number. A representative named Kathy stated I would be reimbursed 35 Euros for the extra charge plus another 25 Euros for the inconvenience.
3 days later, I noticed this high charge on credit card for Hertz. I called customer service back, They stated Kathy should of never told me I would be reimbursed. They have confirmation of her promising me this refund and she was incorrect. They said the Portugal Hertz is privately owned and they cannot reimburse me. How can a representative promise a customer something and the company try to take it back. Worst car rental experience. Poor customer service.

It took forever to rent the car and even more to leave it, even with full insurance. Its very expensive for a portuguese standard. Go to any other local company and you will find much better conditions!!

Avevamo il ritiro dell'auto alle ore 10.00. Ci consegnano la macchina alle 12.10. Più di due ore di attesa.
Il giorno di Pasquetta con una trentina di persone in fila circa c'erano solamente due persone. Avete le prenotazioni? Bene, avete quindi anche un'idea dell'affluenza prevista per quel giorno e per quell'ora. Organizzazione!

Easy check in and out. Last minute booking and car was available, clean and in great condition. Also there is a mini gas station right in front that is not associated with Hertz which makes for convenient refueling before returning your rental!

Shitty & very slow service. Did not respect lease contract & delivery. Full of contradictions between staff representatives. Generates bad reputation close of being abusive. Perception that staff did not care. Do not recommend. N'avons pas apprécié les délais d'attente. Nous avons eu le sentiment de s'être fait arnaqué sur les assurances. Terrible de réaliser que les employés se contredisent entre eux sur la question des assurances et ce, incluant la gérante de l'établissement

The people are nice and do their best to get you the car, but it takes 1.5-2 hours in high season (August) to get a rental car, even with a reservation for a specified time. Plan accordingly.

Sehr gut organisiert, es gibt drei Warteschlangen (Standard, Hertz Gold & Prio für Eltern mit Kindern). Bedienung war super und da wir mit Kindern unterwegs waren, sind wir auch gleich bedient worden.

É uma empresa que faz o possivel por agradar os seus clientes!
No verao pode haver grandes filas mas ponham-se tambem no lugar dos fucionarios que estao sob uma grande pressao! Eles tambem sao pessoas e nao tem qualquer interesse em manter o cliente a espera!
Levar com reclamacao atras de reclamacao durante 4 horas seguidas tambem nao é tarefa facil!

Very correct price compared to other solutions. It is also possible to leave the car at the airport agency (what we've done). 1 star less because of the opening hour, quite restraining.
