Awesome! I had a one week trip with my girlfriend and I also wanted to go fishing with the fly, so I contacted Marco for a saltwater day. Based on his experiences he told me that saltwater wouldn't be any good currently and you also need to be good in distance casting. That's why I changed my decision to a freshwater trip for barbels and perches. He took me to two awesome spots where he could also find the fishes very quickly. I caught several kind of barbels and perches and I could also catch some shads, a mullet and almost a sea bass (just a small one)on the fly. Marco has a very good knowledge about the environment around the algarve and all kind of fishes that lives there. My experience with Fly Fishing Algarve was brilliant from start to finish. I was heading to the Algarve for a family holiday so fishing time was limited. Marco enquired of my fly fishing ability, my expectations for the trip, and my target species and chose destinations based on these criteria. I booked a barbel/carp combo as I had never heard of either of these fish been caught on fly. Unfortunately the night before I was due to fish there was heavy rain which colored all the rivers but Marco was still able to find fishable water and put me on feeding fish. I had an awesome morning sightfishing carp on the fly and in the afternoon we moved location to a river which was literally full of barbel. I landed 5 carp to 7lb but saw much larger fish which I would have had a chance at had I been better at casting!!! I also landed one barbel, although I had 5 or 6 takes and three hookups only one stayed on to the net. Marco is a very knowledgeable and patient guide. He explains everything very clearly and has great English. He even took time to explain different Portuguese plants, herbs and animals that we spotted as we fished which I found really added to the experience. I will definitely be fishing with him again.

Marco is a first class guide , his service is second to non in my opinion. Totally dedicated to a great days fishing for his client Marco stops at nothing to provide a perfect service , nice packed lunch and expert tuition and guidance from someone who knows his fishing and area intimately and can pass on his knowledge to ensure a great day. I totally enjoyed my day out fly fishing on a wonderful reservoir in southern Algarve. Marcos depth of knowledge and patient approach ensured a great day. Fly fishing for hard fighting carp and Black Bass was a total pleasure and not to be missed by keen fly fishermen visiting the Algarve. Marco provided a fantastic day of guiding. He was flexible with the day's plan and quick to adjust when conditions changed. I'd never heard of fly fishing for carp before, but they made for some fun and exciting sight fishing in a beautiful part of the world.
