Beautiful spacious room, great service and a great location! I loved the feel of this hotel, very posh and historic. Claudio was fantastic in checking us in and giving us info and history about the hotel. Must try the octopus dish at the hotel as it was pretty amazing!

Possibly the best hotel experience ever. Such a wonderful place. A beautiful conversion of an old building creating stunning individual rooms and lovely communal spaces. The service is impeccable. Breakfast outside is fabulous. The bath in the room was amazing. Such a perfect location too being a short walk up to the castle and close to a tram route.

Lovely boutique hotel. Well located to explore the city. What the hotel lacks in amenities because, well it is a boutique hotel after all, it makes up for in impeccable service, friendly, knowledgeable staff with a can-do attitude, and attention to detail. My only complaint however is that the rooms are not well insulated/soundproofed and are very noisy. I woke up around 7am every morning to the sound of people talking or rolling their bags through the hall, the singing of the elevator, etc etc. This is not a pleasant way to wake up. My tip- ask for a quiet room.

Outstanding hotel! Superb staff who went out of their way to be helpful, while being both friendly and courteous. Rooms were spacious, clean and quiet. Restaurant and bar were exceptional This is a wonderful hotel, a gem in the heart of Alfama. Highly recommend this hotel and I will stay there whenever I am in Lisbon!

Lovely hotel. Staff was beyond helpful. Amenities only lacked a workout facility (which is in the works to be added). Restaurant served fabulous food by very friendly waitstaff. Highly recommend this hotel.

From start to finish one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. I would HIGHLY recommend Santiago de Alfama. Also, if you go, please do yourself a favor and book a trip with the hotel's driver Kevin. He's knowledgeable and incredibly nice.

Un super HOTEL, un restaurant ... un peu moins !
Une hôtellerie d’excellente facture. Les chambres sont belles, spacieuses, décorées comme il faut, très bien tenues par une équipe d'étages remarquable. Le service en chambre du soir est très appréciable, même si classique pour un cinq étoiles. La literie est excellente.
Très apprécié aussi la gentillesse et le professionnalisme du réceptionniste qui parle le Français, et qui est très attentifs au bien être des clients. Il fait aussi office de concierge et est de bons conseils.
L’hôtel est très bien tenu, idéalement situé au calme (dans un quartier très touristique), joliment décoré, la tarasse fumeur vaut le détour même si l'on ne fume pas, juste pour le point de vue !
Les attentions sont multiples (Voucher, mise à disposition de boisson et pommes ...) et vraiment délicates.
Bon, on va parler du bémol !!!!
La restauration n'est clairement pas au niveau de cet hôtel !
Ce n'est pas mauvais ... C'est juste mal servi ! Le personnel est souriant, sympathique, mais clairement pas à la hauteur des 5 étoiles de l'hôtel !
1 heure d'attente au petit déjeuner due à un problème de mise à jour du système de cuisine !
Les cuissons des poissons et des viandes sont à revoir, les assaisonnements aussi !
Les cocktails du bar sont différents d'un jour à l'autre !
Et attention au Room service 24/24 ... Renseignez-vous deux fois sur la disponibilité avant de l'utiliser ...
Bref, cet hôtel est génial, les gens y sont extrêmement sympathiques et dévoués, et sans le restaurant ce serait un sans faute !
J'y retournerai bientôt pour voir s'ils ont progressé et à quel vitesse ...

A fantastic hotel. A la carte breakfast is sublime. The bedrooms are lovely, the free standing bath absolutely marvelous. The staff are great and all go the extra mile to help. All their dining recommendations were first rate. The massages in the spa were very very good.

Stayed just one night on a stopover. Wished we could have had longer. Perfect spot for exploring old Lisbon, castle, waterfront etc. Beautiful ensuite bedroom with all mod cons. Fantastic reception and bar area. Very friendly staff. Great hotel!

Salle de bain de la chambre 204 pas pratique du tout et lorsqu'on a finit de se doucher, il y a passablement d'eau qui a filtré sous la porte de douche...

Beautiful hotel in the old part of Lisbon. Great breakfast, nice bar and restaurant. Friendly and service minded staff. Clean and elegant decorated in all aspects. I visited the "spa", it is very small and not very quiet. The therapist had good knowledge in techniques but lacked in professionalism regarding consultation, information etc. Something that is very important to the overall experience and that you would expect in this kind of establishment. But a side from that we had a great stay! I recommend this hotel if you visit the city!

What an amazing little hotel. We were in RM 205 and on they way to the room was walk over a glass floor that exposed a stone staircase. By luck we meet the owner Manny, and he shared that it was part of an old Roman theater. What an interesting conversation we had. He shared that there were more ruins one street over. We would have missed this hidden gem. The food in the restaurant was great. We a caparina and mojito in the bar and they were the best we had in Portugal. The hotel is a short 5 min walk to the castle. Although there is a tram that stops in front of the hotel we walked down the hill to all the nearby attractions and neighborhoods. When come back to Lisbon we will come back, and will recommend to friends.

Just wanted to say that this hotel will be probably the safest and best one to go to. Only 19 large rooms and amazing service, and walking distance to everything. The Santiago de Alfama was wonderful. We stayed there for the final 2 nights of our 8-day trip around Portugal. Portugal was one of our favorite trips, and the Santiago de Alfama was one of the highlights of Portugal. The location is excellent--literally steps to the castle, the 28 tram, and the best views in the city. The breakfast was a feast. If youre around for lunch or dinner, try the Goan shrimp curry. The premises are amazing--a 15th century palace built atop Roman ruins (you can actually see a preserved Roman stairway under glass on the 2nd floor). The staff were wonderful, and Manny and Heleen made you feel more like guests in their amazing home than visitors at a normal 5-star hotel. What an incredible experience.

The staff is outstanding. We had a 5:30 am flight and not only did they arrange for the car at 3:00 am, but they gave us bagged breakfasts to take with us. The wait staff in the restaurant also go above and beyond. And of course the view is spectacular. This was our second stay and we will be back again.

We could not recommend this beautiful property more strongly. My wife and I were on a weekend getaway that coincided with two massive storms hitting Portugal. Regardless of the weather, we had a brilliant stay in Lisbon -- largely because of the good advice, warmth and consideration of the staff at the Santiago de Alfama. Every recommendation they made was right on the mark and we felt we had a genuine Lisbon experience following their leads. The property itself is beautiful and well maintained. It is a short 15 minute walk to the center of town and located itself in the middle of the fascinating Alfama area. The breakfasts were fantastic, with a different fresh juice concoction on offer with a full menu every morning. And the bar staff was always waiting with a nightcap when we came home in the evening to debrief and relax before bed. A near perfect base for Lisbon exploration.

Very nice hotel with exceptionally helpful service. Like others have stated, the breakfast is not to be missed. The hotel is situated on a quiet street and close to downtown, a 15-20 minute walk downhill, possibly a bit longer going uphill. Enjoyed our stay.

Second time we stayed in this place. Location on top of the hill, quiet street next to main tourist flows. The breakfast is one of the best ever, bar attracts enough people from the street and personnel really makes the difference.

Very nice hotel. Arranged a driver from cruise ship and to the airport the next day. Very welcoming reception and our room and bath were spacious. Hotel is within walking distance to many sights. Would say that it was much easier walking down the hill to the large pedestrian shopping street than walking back up to the hotel, but the electric bus was very handy. Would definitely stay there again.

Breakfast was amazing with vegan options. Best included breakfast we ever had. Beautiful patio tucked away on a side street but still right there. Room was small with a big bathroom and great view. Alfama is a unique area with lots of hills. With that being said, it was still an easy walk to the city center.

The quality and location of a property matters most to me. It was perfect for us. The staff was incredible. Small outdoor cafe had a menu which could meet the needs of breakfast, lunch, dinner and in between as well as any local restaurants. The facility and our room was beautiful and very clean. Much of what we wanted to see in Lisbon itself was within walking distance. Trolley or taxi took care of the rest. It was fantastic and we would go back if ever in Lisbon again.

We have stayed in many fine properties. Santiago de Alfama is at the top. It is a beautiful19 room small boutique hotel. In Alfama you are away from the crowds on a small street off of a main road. The hotel is decorated in edgy cool art. The restaurant on property is amazing. Make sure you get breakfast included. It’s great. The staff is spectacular.Friendly , will make your dinner reservations for you or suggest good places nearby. We had one of the smaller rooms and I like a lot of space and this one was more than adequate. The lobby has snacks and scented water - outside is patio dining for all meals , inside dining as well with a small bar. Really it’s perfect. I can’t think of anything that wasn’t just perfect hereEven the linens and towels seem to have been scented. Standing ovation for Santiago de Alfama I just got lucky finding it.

Consistent with what many others have written in their reviews, this was one of the best hotels at which we have ever stayed. The hotel is beautiful, in a great location, and the rooms are gracious, but what makes it special is its extraordinary staff. Every member of the hotels staff was extraordinarily friendly, kind and helpful. We got to know the hotels owner as well, an engaging and very generous person. When we return to Lisbon, we definitely return to the Santiago de Alfama.

Owner walked around at breakfast and met everyone staying in the hotel. Breakfast was included and free water in the rooms everyday was a big plus for tourists. The staff was friendly and willing to help with all our needs. Overall excellent hotel!

100 m abseits des Trubels ein kleines und feines Hotel in dem man sich sehr wohlfühlen kann. Wir hatten ein kleines Zimmer mit Dusche, Wanne ind Bidet. Selbstverständlich war alles Tip-Top sauber. Handtücher sind angemessen flauschig. Minibar und Klimaanlage vorhanden, aber kaum genutzt. Frühstück ist luxuriös, man wird bedient, das Egg-Benedict ein Gedicht und der Americano eine Freude. Das Restaurant ist wechselhaft, Zwar noch kein Anlass zur Kritik, aber den Salat hätte ich mir knackiger gewünscht, die Pommes knackiger, die Cocktails sind sehr Geschmacksache, der Service immer tadellos. Mit dem Bus oder der Tram ist schnell im Zentrum, zur Not ein Taxi, welches in Lissabon ja recht preiswert ist. Vielleicht gut zu wissen, das Viertel ist für Autos Zufahrtsbeschränkt, es ist also relativ ruhig, kommt man mit dem Mietwagen hilft der Concierge weiter. Was will man mehr? Freue mich auf das nächste Mal.

Wonderful hotel in beautiful Alfama district close to some great historical attractions. Great places to eat locally, but the food and facilities in the hotel were extremely good quality with a good variety on the menu, especially the fish dishes. Rooms were good sized, clean with good facilities. The top marks go to the staff who were welcoming on arrival, highly attentive throughout our stay, offered great advice on places to see and visit, and also noticed that it was my birthday and organised a wonderful cake on the day. When i go back to Lisbon I will be staying there again.

Standard room is small but good stylish use of space, lots of wardrobe space and gorgeous big bathroom/wet room. Impeccably clean and a calm atmosphere. Would love to stay here again.

Ein wunderschönes Hotel mit sehr freundlichen und hilfsbereiten Mitarbeitern inmitten des ältesten Stadtviertels von Lisabon, die Alfama. Unser Zimmer war mehr als geräumig, die Betten waren gut, das Badezimmer ein Traum. Von der Raucher-Terasse im 3. Stock hat man einen fantastischen Blick über den Hafen. Sobald man seinen Fuß vor die Türe setzt, kann man in vielen kleinen Läden shoppen und sich in den umliegenden Cafes/ Restaurants etwas leckers gönnen. Auch sind viele der historischen Landmarken einfach vom Hotel erreichbar. Allem in Allen würden wir hier deffenetiv noch mal bleiben!

Sem dúvidas um excelente hotel. Hospedei-me sozinha. Tive um ótimo atendimento e os serviços são de primeira, staff muito atencioso. O restaurante é um charme e a comida ótima. Bem localizado no centro histórico de Lisboa o que possibilita muitas opções de passeios a pé. Recomendo.

Uniquement pour un repas le midi en terrasse. Musique forte il faut donc crier pour se parler. Attente 40 minutes pour être servis. Hamburger trop gras mais bon quand même . Salade avec oubli de sauce. Saumon très bon. Prix exorbitant pour la quantité. Ambiance accompagnée des travaux publics. Je ne recommande pas.

Bonito Hotel y restaurante. Buenos primeros platos pero muy mala atención y servicio de los camareros. Tardaron en servir el segundo más de media hora. No pusieron pan en la mesa, y todos los segundos no se sirvieron al mismo tiempo. El plato de bacalao muy malo. Mucho bechamel y poco bacalao y sablazo al bolsillo de 130 €. No volveré a repetir con mi familia. Mal sitio para comer bacalao. Y eso que había muy pocas mesas. Dentro estábamos solos y fuera en la terraza había tres mesas. Muy mal servicio y pocos conocimiento de hostería.

Excellent location : very quiet place in a picturesque district, central & with easy access to other areas.
Beautiful building tastefully decorated,very well designed space so that the small size of the room was no problem, spick & span clean, ultra comfortable bed. Delicious, healthy & copious breakfast. Excellent restaurant. Lovely & attentive staff. We let them reseve a Fado club for us … at a 5 mn walk from the hotel, given the high quality of the musicians & singers, we couldn’t have wished for a better place.

Location is spot on. People that work there are incredibly accommodating. Rooms are gorgeous. Only 19 rooms. Food was also delicious, albeit expensive for Lisbon. The only downside in our book was the lack of a gym. Regardless I would recommend it to anyone.

Servicio atento e impecable, simpático y discreto. Lana, en la recepción, hizo todo lo posible por hacer nuestra estancia agradable con todo tipo de detalles. Ana en cafetería nos demostró lo que es un servicio 5 estrellas, cortés, servicial, discreta, y con un toque de cercanía que no es común. El lugar es encantador y la zona preciosa!

The Santiago de Alfama is one of the best hotels we have ever stayed in; great location, excellent service, and tons of character at every turn. The Alfama area is he best place to stay for visitors looking for an authentic Lisbon experience. It's a short distance to get to the busy areas but is perfect for walking at night with great restaurants not packed with tourists. The staff is really incredible, taking the time to get to know us, to make sure we knew the property, the neighborhood and all of Lisbon - obrigado!

Outstanding hotel! Top notch service, impeccable rooms and common areas, and perfect location. Having stayed at fine hotels all over the world, the Santiago de Alfama is among the best. It has my highest recommendation.

The Santiago de Alfama is an amazing Boutique Hotel Located in the heart of historic Lisbon, Alfama.
The Hotel has several Suites with different views, some more exposed to the outside, with a nice view over the Rio Tejo, where we could experience an astonishing sun raise, and some toward an internal Patio with an remarkable vertical Garden.
While staying at Satiago de Alfama we got engaged with the live style of a preserved and welcoming old fashion city with Trams, hills and castel as well as we enjoyed the modernity, comfort and luxurious suite.
We do recommend the Santiago de Alfama as a place to stay whether on relaxing holiday or in a love trip to Lisbon.
With lovely and helpful staff and amazing food, either for breakfast, lunch or dinner, we really adored our experience and definitively would repeat it.
Hope you enjoy as much as we did…

Tive oportunidade de almoçar na esplanada do café do hotel Santiago de Alfama. O tempo estava óptimo! Acabámos por optar por algo mais leve. Desde o couvert até ao café passámos por umas petingas em escabeche maravilhosas, uns cogumelos salteados super bem temperados e suculentos e por fim um caril de borrego que se desfazia na boca. O vinho que teve o privilégio de acompanhar esta refeição foi "CATARINA".Toda a decoração do hotel com óptimo gosto, os quartos muito confortáveis, aconchegantes e com uma vista de suster a respiração.
Definitivamente vamos voltar! Muitos parabéns por este novo projecto.
