Great experience! Can not recommend the prawn curry enough. Great attentive service and selection on their menu. Kids are welcome and well catered for. Great views of the beach, especially from the bar on the upper floor.

Prime location, friendly stuff, food is ok, prices high. Inside and outside seating with beautiful views over the sea. Add 50% to the price of what you generally can expect in Portugal. Food is fine, but not anything special. Service is friendly, although it took them 20 minutes to get us a high chair. Crowd mainly holidaying foreigners.

Just has an amazing lunch at Maria’s today. I got the fresh grilled sea bream which was as good as I have had anywhere in the world. The staff are all excellent and friendly and the location is beyond stunning. I was so impressed I have booked a table for dinner this weekend... highly recommend.

Came here end of February, clear blue skies with perfect temps of 19 degrees although it felt like more and epic beach side view from the restaurant. We got the salmon and avacado starter and hot spicy prawn curry with basmati rice - both were amazing! The prawn curry was so creamy and tasty - highly recommended!

What a setting amazing restaurant, it goes without saying fish is strong on this menu with it being on the beach but this place is amazing really enjoyed ourselves and as a group of 16 they looked after us with no complaints at all

We've been eating at Maria's for years and used to really love it. A while ago we noticed a change and it wasn't for the better. Really arrogant staff started working there and the occasional poor meal was served. We persevered which isn't really something you should have to do with a favourite restaurant and certainly not at their prices. The remaining good staff and the location still brought us back. My 40th birthday meal was ruined thanks to these guys. My wife thought it would be a treat to book our favourite table for an early evening meal. On arrival our table had been given to someone else and we were put at the back of the restaurant. I asked for other well placed tables that were unoccupied but was told they were reserved. We were asked for drinks very quickly but then waited 20 mins. Eventually we were told "ah hahaha I forgot" without apology. Our 2 drinks arrived a further 10 mins later. Food took forever and my curry was stone cold so sent it back. My daughter's calamari was vile, it was clearly a mix of old refried and new fresh fried calamari. The old dark batter was, without exaggeration, oozing oil when you took a bite. I squeezed a piece, like one would a lemon, onto a napkin to show the waiter who told me it was normal. He had no explanation for the mix of old and fresh or why the fresh calamari didn't leak oil like the normal calamari. I asked for a replacement meal and was sighed at, the plate snatched off the table and he stormed off. We're pretty placid people and were genuinely polite and I actually apologised for complaining. My wife ate by herself and shared with my hungry young daughter. 20 mins later a different and lovely waiter brought over my curry but no calamari. At this point I lost it and asked him to get the manageress. She's always been amazing over the years. They both returned and true to form, she was lovely and couldn't apologise enough. The waiter calmly explained that his colleague has just told them he forgot to reorder. A few minutes later the original waiter brought over the replacement calamari, banged it on the table in front of my 3 yr old daughter and said in a loud voice to her "THERE". I asked him what his problem was and he said "you never ordered replacement calamari, you lied to my colleague" We didn't say a word, we just stood up, left the remaining food, walked to the door and paid the manageress. She deducted my daughters meal without being asked and said sorry many times. She got visibly upset when I told her it was my birthday and we wouldn't be back. This lovely lady used to rub my wife's tummy when she was pregnant and later took our daughter for a cuddle and wander on the boardwalk and around the restaurant when she was 4 months old.....we have lovely memories of her and the restaurant.....and that's where it stops. Never again..

Sunday lunch is an experience here! Band playing and a general singalong too. Staff dancing on the tables etc. Great fun altogether.

The food and experience was overpriced considering the quality. We ordered seafood linguini which came drowning in tomotoes and was rather bland. The waiter did not offer us an extra plate for the shells and were not forthcoming with parmesan. Also, the bill they gave us belonged to the table next to us, a good 50 euros more than ours!

The food at Maria's is always excellent and the location is superb. Just had a very relaxing late lunch. However, on an evening it can get chaotic and the service can be slow so be prepared to be patient.

A lovely beachside restaurant serving fresh, delicious seafood in a great setting. Sunbeds are available just below (€20) with a little snack shack for some quick refreshments. We had intended to only stay for the morning, but were so comfortable and satisfied with everything, we ended up staying the entire day!

Was really looking forward to going here due to its location and buzzy atmosphere, but it was a disappointment from the start. The hostess was condescending and rude, making a big show of fitting us in because we didnt have a reservation, like it was doing us a big favour. We were also asked to vacate by 8.30, which would be fine apart from the rude tone she asked us in and when we left at our allotted time, there were lots of empty tables. We were seated in obviously was one of the worst tables near the door. The wait staff were fine, polite, but clearly rushed and not particularly attentive. The food was mediocre, the squid overcooked in places and undercooked in others. The burger was nothing special but the monkfish was good. The house red was nice and there was a good atmosphere. The restaurant is popular probably because of its excellent location. If you can avoid, Saudade is nearby and much better food and service for similar prices

Having not been for a year we were expecting a fabulous meal again with attentive staff at a great location. Unfortunately this was not the case. Whilst the staff were attentive the property had became a bit "tired" and the food was very average and was poor value for money. Will not be rushing back as there are numerous other better quality establishments in the area.

Ich würde ja gerne schreiben, schlechter Service, aber es gab keinen... Wir wurden von der Bedienung nach oben geschickt wo wir es uns auch gemütlich gemacht haben. Es kam ein Kellner mit der Karte und verschwand dann direkt wieder... Nach 45 Minuten war er immer noch nicht da...unten war dann auch keiner mehr zu finden... Keine Ahnung wie man hier 5 Sterne geben kann...

Molto molto caro, servizio scadente, prezzi esagerati per quello che ti danno, si paga solo la location, indubbiamente fantastica ma se volete mangiare bene ed essere serviti decentemente con un sorriso andate altrove.

Ein super gutes Restaurant der gehobenen Preisklasse. Aber dafür auch sehr lecker und sehr freundliches Personal. Dazu kommt noch die exclusive Lage an der Praya do Garrao Poente....endloser Sandstrand, zur Zeit fast leergefegt und in der Umgebung nur gehobene Wohnanlagen. Auch ein passendes Hotel ist dort.

I've been here previous and it was nice but expensive. I went again on New year's Day so it might not be fair to say this, but there were people standing up dancing and singing to the really loud music. So much so, that the waiters/waitresses were struggling to get past them to bring our food. The food is super overpriced but I expect that on the beach. If you don't mind paying for the perk of eating on the beach, then sure come here, but I don't really recommend it, for a nice, quiet family meal.

Gehobenes Restaurant, dass manchmal dem Image nicht folgen kann. Bedienung ist etwas zu lässig und vergisst Getränke oder die leeren Teller stehen länger als 15 Minuten auf dem Platz. Preis-Leistung ist ok aber es ist Luft nach oben.

Really loved this place - given the setting, they could absolutely get away with serving whatever they wanted at whatever price, but instead they have amazing staff serving excellent food in a beautiful location. We had the prawn curry, butterflied tempura prawns, calamari, seabass ceviche, avocado prawns, Caesar salad, spag bol, monkfish skewers, fresh turbot - all absolutely brilliant. Staff were polite and accomodating, we had a noisy toddler and they were all super friendly with him. We had a prime seat for the sunset, which went down over the Pacific just as our mains were collected. Wine list is also extensive and has some decent options. Definitely visit at least once on your holiday.

Estuvimos estos días en Maria's como uno de los restaurantes que hemos visitado durante nuestras vacaciones en Faro. La comida es correcta, aunque el pescado que nos sirvieron estaba demasiado hecho y bastante seco. El restaurante tiene demasiadas mesas, lo que hace que el espacio sea ruidoso y nada agradable. También nos resultó caro teniendo en cuenta la relación calidad/precio. No volvería.

Excellent restaurant malgré les prix très élevés pour l’Algarve. Cela vaut la peine rien que pour sa position privilégié sur la plage. Stationnement très facile Service impeccable! Décor très soigné Ce restaurant est adressé à une clientèle très aisée. Fréquenté en grande partie par des Anglais et Allemands.

La comida está buena, pero nada diferente a lo que se puede encontrar en la zona al mismo precio. Cuidado con la cuenta, se suelen equivocar y nunca es para cobrar de menos. Nada recomendable. Una decepción absoluta.

Great views! Just go there for a drink and a coffee while enjoying to smoke a cigar. All tables where full downstairs for the lunch and coffee was available only on the roff terrace ... where smoking is not allowed (even on open air). Service was not so fast for the limited order snd people on the terrace. (but probably they were doing some service for the crowded ground floor)

Seems to be fashionable with the loud british crowd, if that makes you tick. Barely passable food, only excellent feature is location.

Cool place one the beach. Normal menu from a beach bar, good wine list. Prices are on the high end compared to the taste and quality for the food. Service was just okay, they didn't check in on us at all and we had to look for several items our self. You don't come here for the food, you come here for the view, atmosphere and the beach. Sunday are truly fun

Maria’s a great little place just off the beach. Good selection of foods from steaks to fish as well as good piri piri chicken. Highly recommended. Reasonably priced.

Stunning views and beautiful setting - Miguel and the team are fun and attentive. Great Selection fresh fish and seafood available and equally fine selection of wines from the 3 regions of Portugal. Highly recommended for stunning ocean views, fun when Miguel is there, great U2 repertoire on Sundays and dancing for all. Expect to pay 75 per head with wine and aperitif. Unique Luxury Holiday guests staying in any of our villas in either Vale do Lobo or Quinta do Lago highly recommended to dine there or simply enjoy the roof top terrace over a G&T or Pornstar Martini

Friendly staff and good food but experience was over charge for a bottle of water and a large beer we didn't have. Had to leave quick as our grandchildren was restless and very hot day very disappointed.

We went to Maria's just for a drink after coming up from the beach. The service was not very attentive, we eventually ordered two gin & tonics, a vodlka & tonic & a bacardi & coke. We requested peanuts and olives. When the drinks came the mixers were already poured. When I queried this they said they were premixed drinks and if you wanted your spirit and mixer separate, then there is a higher price. We all like to pour our own different quantities of mixer so this was strange but also you don't see the measure of alcahol?? Upon tasting the drinks we were all disappointed, you could literally only taste tonic or coke!!!! No olives or peants ever arrived . We called for the bill and waited and waited, asking two different waiters, no luck. I went inside to the bar and our bill came to€39.50. I spoke to the manageress and reiterated the lack of alcahol in their premixed drinks and that we were never offered a choice. I requested that this alo.g with bad service should be reflected in our bill. Her refusal was that the bill had go.e through the computer and there was nothing she could do??? She asked us to come back another day for a real drink!! We will not be returning.

We reserved a table for 3 for lunch this afternoon. The bread included in the couvert was standard baguette that you can buy in any corner shop - even in the cheapest of restaurants you generally get local fresh bread. The olives included has also clearly been tipped out of a jar and were nothing special! We waited over 30 minutes for our starters to arrive, bearing in mind we had no starters and the table behind us who arrived after received their food first! The food was tasty but again nothing special! I ordered the squid and was surprised to find the main body of cartilage still inside! It's clear to me the squid had been prepped in a hurry and no due care was taken! We then waited at least 20 minutes for our table to be cleared once we'd finished - quite disappointing considering the restaurant was almost empty by this point! It felt as though we were more of an inconvenience rather than a paying customer! I mentioned my issue with the squid to the waiter when he finally arrived and he made no apology whatsoever. Of course, it was not his fault but an apology is expected at the very least! For 3 main courses and a bottle of wine we paid €90 - no offer of free coffee or anything as an apology for the squid! The setting is beautiful and they obviously have expensive overheads considering their location but I thought it was very overpriced for the quality of the food and the service! If you are in the area walk a bit further down the beach and you will find slightly cheaper restaurants for better quality!

Staff were incredibly rude, meals were either dull or too salty, wouldn't go back if you paid me. Would give zero stars if it were possible.

Staying there for the day as it's where the hotel we're staying at have their beach concession (yeah I know, posh right?) Drinks are good, staff rather a helpful and friendly. Asked for a table for lunch and, as mentioned in an earlier review here, they don't even bother asking what time and just say they're fully booked. For a restaurant open from 12 to late without break, that seems unlikely! So not very pleased with that, but hey ho there's beer and it's a nice spot.

Maria's is in a beautiful setting by the beach it is a lovely place to enjoy a meal, very romantic. The food is good with friendly service, would be 5 stars but I was slightly irritated that a large beer is 400 mL and 4.50 Euro whereas everywhere else a large beer is 500 mL, not a major issue but a bit annoying.

Went here twice while on holiday both meals were great lovely setting on the beach and live music 2-5 I think Saturday . Very relaxed casual dinning inside and outside tables.

We turned up on a Wednesday and the place was fully booked inside. Lucky for us they have tables outside and it was as mild night. Even though they have heaters and blankets ready if needed. The sea bass was excellent and the house white was nice. This was the end of May when all the other restaurants around were nearly empty.

Had lunch today at Maria’s with friends, food was great and the coffee was exceptional, the staff where on point and the restaurant was child friendly. Strongly recommend the cheese cake, Great outlook over the sea and a lovely way to spend an afternoon.

Platos aceptables y buena música en directo. El trato de la dirección deja mucho que desear parece que están haciendo un favor cuando vas a reservar. No tienen barra para poder esperar a tu mesa tomando algo. Recomiendo otros restaurantes cercanos mejores al mismo precio que este .

Si eres español no te recomiendo que vengas porque vas a comer mas tarde y te ponen la hora que ellos quieran y aunque haya mesas libres a la que ellos te digan... se comen bien pero NO volveremos

Un sitio súper bonito, con un gusto espectacular pero NO recomiendo que vengan los españoles , por ser español comes más tarde (nos han dado mesa a las 3:30 portuguesas 4:30 española..) aunque haya mesas libres te tienes que esperar a tu hora solo puedes beber y lo único que puedes comer es parte de atún con pan no puedes pedir ningún plato hasta la hora una pena pero NO volveremos... (mesas vacías y aún esperando a la hora..)

Went for a meal on Friday night. There were two couples in the restaurant who were obviously the worse for wear. Their loud and aggressive behaviour ruined the experience for everyone in the restaurant. In spite of requests by a number of patrons to the management to ask the couples to behave or leave, the management refused to do anything about it. The evening was ruined for everyone. With that type of management I certainly wont be going back however good the food is.

I ate lunch here every day for a week in October. Lovely staff, and the fish and clams were always outstanding. Try the Portuguese curry as well!

This was by far the worst service I have received at any of the establishments I've visited in the years I've visited the area. I ordered the chicken which when it arrived was just bones with no meat on, I rarely comment on things like this but in this instance I felt I had to. The waiter than informed me that this was the best chicken you could get in the area. To be unapologetic for the terrible quality of the meal and to answer back in such a fashion was very disappointing, I then waited 45 minutes without out table being visited to offer desserts or coffees or the bill. Eventually I had to signal for the bill which was brought over and the manageress came to ask how the meal was, I mentioned that I had already given feedback regarding the meal and she explained that "chickens can sometimes be skinny" as an explanation for their being no meat on any of the chicken I ordered. Overall the food was poor, the service was terrible and I left extremely dissatisfied.

Focus on the fish, seared Tuna very good either in salad or as main. Not cheap and very busy so do book, even for lunch, if you want a good table.

Have been coming to Marias since Maria when it was excellent. Always the best rice in the Algarve. We then had a few years of Virgilio which was different but good Now we have the new Marias which like many beach restraints has gone modern and upmarket. The food is very good and the service excellent, but one has to book ahead and pay more.

The view is just sensational and the food is pretty great as well. Obviously fish is the main dish of choice here. They can prepare it in many ways but just simple and grilled is my preference. In the summer months and at the weekends this place can get extremely busy and I would highly recommend booking. The staff are very friendly and the food is always great.

We've been coming to portugal for 3 years and this is one of our regular haunts. This year they've extended out onto the decking giving them more indoor seating for when the weather is a little inclement but still getting great views of the beach and sea. Plenty of parking and whilst we didn't book I get the impression you will need to for evening meals in peak season. We've been here for lunch and dinner but on this occasion we brought 6 for dinner. Great atmosphere (one loud table of Brits clearly enjoying themselves but not offensively so), great food, very healthy portions, I had the rib eye which even though imported from Scotland was cooked perfectly and the rest of my party had great fish (enormous plate of sardines, delightful monkfish) and curry dishes. Plenty for everyone on the menu and staff couldn't do enough to help (including trying to accomodate pushchair for a sleeping child and politely informing me I'd left an extra 50 euro note with our payment). Excellent deserts, again with healthy portions. Not cheap but still slightly cheaper than some of the other beachfront restaurants in the area and definitely my favourite.
