Très beau parcours de golf dans un cadre naturel et sauvage. Pourvu qu'il garde ce caractère et ne cède pas aux sirènes des promoteurs immobiliers. Accueil sympathique. Club house magnifique et contemporain tout en préservant l'environnement.

We played this course on 13/10/2018; it is by far one of the best courses in Portugal we have played over the last six years. Having stayed in Lagos we went with in trepidation, based on others societies we talked to and the lost of golf balls. We did well only losing 8 balls in our two four balls. The course is tough but not unplayable, you are required to play straight from the tee - something we all wish to do with a handicap range of 11/20. The greens are outstanding well shaped, true and kept in great condition. We also played Penina; Championship, Boavista, Palmares; [A/B] so this is really high praise from our guys. The hospitality is very good as is the food and drink with good changing rooms and excellent buggies. Brian Rigby It was so good we decided to play again on our rest day; the weather was against us but we still loved the course.

Fantastic course, really well run and maintained. It’s quite tough though, so bring plenty of balls! Also highly recommend the restaurant if you just wanted lunch, the menu is great but the views are spectacular!!

Do yourself a favour and don't come here- this is the worst golf course I've ever played. Let's start with the positives: the greens are decent, the staff is quite friendly and the course conditions are okay (not good, but ok). Everything else is a total catastrophe. More specifically, if you want play on a golf course that rewards you for for hitting good shots, this golf course is completely the opposite. Yes, a golf course can be narrow. Yes, a golf course can be challenging. Unfortunately, a golf course cannot be unplayable, to the point where the best word to describe it is "impossible" I'm a reasonably good golf player (handicap 0), and accuracy is the strongest part of my game. During my round, I didn't miss a single tee shot. However, whenever the wind blows in the same direction as the incline of the fairway, you have a 100% chance of either losing your ball or finding it in a bush or in the water. You can hit as good of a shot as you can muster, but you will need to get awfully lucky to find the ball (and be able to play the next shot vaguely towards the green). Just for some background, the us open is my favourite golf event of the year as I love difficult courses. Many of my favourite golf courses are, in fact, the toughest in Portugal. It's also important to note that I didn't pay to play, which guarantees that I'm not writing this because I feel ripped off. I'm writing this because I think it's important for people who are considering playing here, and my opinion is shared with pretty much every good amateur that I talked to. If you want to play golf, you can do so here. But if you want to test yourself and enjoy the sport, avoid Espiche like the plague.

This golf club is great -, clubhouse is fabulous with really friendly staff- the course is in magnificent condition and very challenging- best in this area by a mile.

Schöner Golfplatz westlich von Lagos. Sehr gepflegt, Fairways sind top auch die Greens aber recht langsam. Insgesamt nicht allzu spektakulär auch für Anfänger geeignet. Sehr schönes modernes Clubhaus. Special Offer 85 Euro für zwei Spieler incl. Buggy.

Played the course last week it was slightly breezy that is all. The 12 in our party worked out that we lost in total 65 balls. Our handicaps range from 1 to 16 so we are not bad golfers. The course is a fantastic layout with only 1 flaw!!! No rough!!!! Somehow the rough needs to be grown. Not sure it can be done with Bermuda but a certain grass species needs to be introduced to the rough, then fertilized and watered regular otherwise the course becomes unplayable as there is nothing to stop the ball from tumbling into the bushes. Take the 10th for example. We played up the right being concerned we had lost the balls only to find our balls had rolled almost in the bushes to the left. So maybe the fairways could do with similar treatment. There are some great holes on the course no. 6, 7, 8, 11, 13 and 17. Would like to play it again when it is a bit more user friendly.

Driving range is nice though missing shade on hot days, the pitch practice area is a little too small to actually pitch wedge with anything other then a partial stroke, but otherwise pleasent. The course itself is pleasent on the eye, but with thick bush and roughs that are as fast as the fairway even a good shot tends to roll off into impenitrable bushes. Fun but fustrating, more often than not you replace your ball with someone elses that you can find. Recent changes in mangement might see this improve, with alot of work already starting on the course. Certain worth a round if you havent been round before.

Großartiger Golfplatz, der allerdings nicht einfach zu spielen ist. Sehr gepflegte Fairways und Grüns. Das Clubhaus modern und sehr gelungen. Wir haben durchweg nette und zuvorkommende Mitarbeiter erlebt.

Course is overdesigned .period . Thats why You pay more for renowned designer to avoid flaws like this one have . First its very short so You can easily play it like i did with 3 wood every hole even from the back tees.( its only 5800m from back tees) Second its not so narrow but the problem is You have only fairway and bushes so basically every miss of the fairway should be treated like hazard or even out of bounds because You cant find the ball . Every par 5 is under 450m and You always are within reaching distance in two but you simply lay up because margin of error is too small (you have many times 180-200m for second shot but more than 10m left or right of the green is lost ball) Third this would be acceptable but the fairways are rock hard and many times You have a blind shot from the tee and You hit the side of the fairway and the ball bounces to the bushes THAT IS NOT FAIR AND NOT ACCEPTABLE ON ANY GOOD GOLFCOURSE Fourth - some of the greens are sloped so severly that they have to be kept and are kept on 7 stimp because downhill they would be unplayable but then uphill they are played VERY slow. THAT IS ALSO UNACCEPTABLE- there will never be greens with 9+ on stimp becuse You won't stop the ball. Fifth - scenery is amazing - moon like and unadulterated to me are some similarities to trump Scotland and wolf creek. Sixth - Clubhouse is great but all in all 100 eur for this including buggy is a lot . i would go for quinta do lago for that money . My tip : play it once and LEAVE driver in the car

We played this course after hearing good reports. Even the drive up to the clubhouse was a bit daunting. The starter didnt offer any words of encouragement. " All the holes are hard".The fairways had a links feel but instead of an errant ball rolling into some rough it tended to vanish into scrubby hedgerows. Even straight drives could end up 50 yards left or right or even coming back down the fairway towards you. The greens were a nightmare in a complimentary way very grainy and fast, but the least of your worries. The painfully slow 4 ball from hell refusing to let us through just prolonged the agony. It reminded me of a course in Spain- Montemayor and look what happened there. At the end of our round we couldnt even face going in the clubhouse. Just like in the horror movies we got in our car and drove away as fast as we could never to return. Be warned !

One of the friendliest courses in the Algarve, very interesting and varied layout. The course is very environmentally friendly, meaning that also the greens are not as manicured as in other courses, but it's not an issue once you are used to it.

Worst golf experience ever -double booked tee times -rude staff -no sand in bunkers -3 hours to play 9 holes -gimmicky holes - walls across fairway at 250m mark on par 5 A shame

Do not go for an enjoyable round of golf. Expect to spend 6 hours routing in bushes after hitting what appeared to be a good drive. As an earlier reviewer said this course is all about luck rather than skill.

I live just across the road from royal birkdale golf club and played golf all over the world 100s of courses ..espiche golf course is up there in my top 3courses I've ever played..a credit to the staff and green keepers ... Magnificent.

Great welcome from all the staff,and Roy who gave us great advice on how to enjoy the course.You have to plot your way round. Greens perfect and stunning views. Definitely coming again.

Great course for a very reasonable price. Beware the bushes surrounding many of the fairways which swallowed quite a few of our balls. Greens are well kept, the clubhouse is very modern and the food and drink is excellent quality and reasonably priced. Played the first week of September and was relatively quiet and not too hot if you tee off before 9am.

Great golf course, great clubhouse, great staff. Unlike some courses in Portugal the investment in this place seems to be solid, and I hope the course is here to stay for many years to come. Came here just when it was newly opened and the road was not fully made up, but now the run from Espiche village to the clubhouse is a smooth ride.

Challening course in very good conditions, very friendly and helpful staff. We had quite tough conditions due to strong wind...Good training for some punsh shoots;) Some blind holes from the tee. Would play it from white next time because it was quite short from yellow tee boxes.

Sorry. Aber besser geht es kaum. Schlechte Bewertungen kommen wohl von unintelligentem Spielverständnis. Man kann den Platz durchaus unterspielen. Sehr gut ist vor allem das Personal, die perfekte Küche und der Platzzustand im April. Danke.

Nice golf course but tight fairways with some blind shots , it can be windy here as it was when we were there which makes it harder still, bring plenty of golf balls you will need them .

We really enjoyed our round here. It's very challenging at times, tight fairways with brutal rough. Plotting the way round is the only way. Greens are slow, but fine once you know the pace. Clubhouse is under construction so not much in way of refreshments or eating but this will soon be available and my guess is green fees will creep up then too. Well worth playing this challenging parkland course if you're in the area just make sure to take plenty balls.
