O atendimento está a ser feito através de agendamento, enviei e-mail há dois dias e estou a ligar sempre, ninguém atende. Por que existir um serviço que não funciona? Um descaso público.

Embora seja uma altura complicada para serviços não se admite ninguém atender um telefone que seja para explicar algo tão simples. Tinha apenas a minha carta de condução para levantar... tive de abalar de Portimão para me dizerem na cara que não se levantava cartas nem havia marcações para tal... incompreensível num local destes. Meter aí os meus pés, nunca mais!

Mir war es am 11.Juni 2019 sehr ähnlich ergangen wie David Owen, nur "viel schneller". (auch Lizenzummeldung) Ich war draussen der 14. in der Reihe. Geöffnet wurde Punkt 9:00 Uhr Um 9:08 wurde meine Nummer aufgerufen zum Schalter 1, um meine Dokumente und selbst mitgebrachte Kopien abzugeben, sowie die Gebühr von 30 Euro zu bezahlen. Das dauerte nur 4 min. Danach sollte ich mich wieder im Wartebereich setzen um auf den zweiten Aufruf zu warten für das Foto und meine Signatur. Das geschah dann am Schalter 2 und dauerte nur 3 min. Um 9.33 war ich wieder draussen. Also ein sehr schneller Ablauf ! Alle waren freundlich ! Der Wartebereich ist klein und hat nur 19 Sitzplätze. (Bei Öffnung um 9:00 Uhr zählte ich 43 Leute)

Arrived outside office 8.15am, about 15 people in front of me. Doors opened at 9am, lady helped everyone with correct ticket for queue. I was given a form to fill in and waited about 10 minutes before being called to desk to show my paper work and pay 30euro. It took about 15 minutes, was then sent back to wait for my picture to be taken, waited about 5 minutes before I got called back - lady took my picture and that was it. I was given a paper document to use as my driving license in the meantime before my license arrives in the post. I already had all documents with me and copies so it was straight forward. If you are changing driving license you need copy of ID/ passport, driving license, copy of residency certificate, copy of NIF number and doctor's note (atestado médico) it also helps if you speak Portuguese and worth getting there early! overall good service and friendly staff today - obrigada

I went to the IMT to exchange my UK license for a Portuguese license. I arrived at 8:30 and lined up outside. There were about 35 people ahead of me. At 9:00 the office opened. In a very orderly fashion a multi-lingual staff member at the ticket machine made sure everyone got the right kind of ticket. I got a “T” ticket for the license exchange. My number was called at about 9:30. I presented my papers, paid the fee, and was told to return to the waiting area for my number to be called again to have my photo taken and give a signature. Five minutes later I was called again, photo taken, signed the pad, and told I was all done. I was out before 10:00. The whole process was fast, efficient, and well organised. All three staff I dealt with spoke English. My only note is that you should also take a photocopy of your passport, and don’t believe all the horror stories you read.

O único número de telefone é um telemóvel que não é atendido. Espera se uma eternidade para ser atendido na loja física. O espaço é manifestamente pequeno para dar assistência a uma região inteira. Estou à espera da minha licença para continuar a tirar a carta e, depois de uma infelicidade no IMT do Porto (por falta de organização dos serviços e falta de informação) que me custou 3 meses parada, estou à espera há 2 semanas (and counting)... vamos ver até onde isto chega...

I can’t believe , even in my country, there is no any type of staff in my country but IMT faro have a discusting staff ,, I came there many times and stood in a queue and after a long time when my turn came they treated like a prisoner, very rude behaviour but I stay silence and they took all of my docs but I’m still waiting for my licence , it’s been almost 8 months , rest of my friends applied their licences in BEJA district they got their licenses in a very short time but imt faro makes me too much disappointed.

Faltam palavras pra descrever o péssimo atendimento e serviço. Apenas um conselho, tirem foto, cópias , tudo que prove que você esta dentro da lei e dos prazos nas solicitações dos serviços. Pra não serem chamados de mentirosos e malucos pelas simpáticas atendentes . Lamentável.

This is the translation of the notice in the IMT office which states that a total of 80 requests will be handled each day. As a large number of the people in the queue are "agents", they quickly take all the available tickets leaving none for the rest of us. START - "The IMT, IP - DRMTAG is in a higher than usual demand for DRIVERS (password A) and FOREIGN DRIVING TITLE (T - password), which compromises responsiveness. It is reported that a total of 80 passwords are made available daily for calls A and T, and the distribution of the passwords is then closed." - END This organisation does not even deserve 1 star as it is a total shambles and an embarrassment to Portugal. Arriving around 8.30am today, I found myself at the back of a very long queue of people outside the office and standing in pouring rain! When the office opened at 9am, we shuffled forward very slowly and after half an hour we entered the office which was completed congested with no one on duty to help with enquiries. It turned out that they had decided to close the registration and exchange of foreign driving licences due to the excessive demand and we were told to come back tomorrow and try again! It was not possible to make an appointment or get any guarantee that the next days would be any better. Just a joke. Be warned to expect a long wait and disappointment.

Not working toilets, queues of two hours and more and a nice “AVISO” that they are not able to handle more than 80 people per day - very helpful to find that out when you arrive from far away, given that’s only IMT in Algarve and it is always overcrowded. Staff is slow and rude, especially the security guy.

Horrible service there. I showed them the proper paperwork of what was needed to transfer my driver’s license to a Portuguese one and they STILL found something wrong with it but legally it had everything they needed. The blonde lady working there is an absolute beast, rude, and way out of line. She should not be working there or with customers anywhere for that matter. There is one lady there with brown hair, forgot her name, but she is actually lovely and very helpful but doesn’t work at the front office unfortunately. If you want anything done go to Allianz Antonio Queimado in Olhão. He’s helpful and nice and gets things done for you without the long wait. Update: I went back to pick up my papers I had given them and the lady who was once mean to me was actually nice today. Turns out she has a mean tone but that’s just her voice and she was upset today because her colleagues weren’t helping her when she asked for something. She even remembered me and my story and demanded her team help find my papers. They didn’t seem to care or were too busy really, but a lady named Isabel was really nice and got my papers back for me. Off to start the process again with the consulate in the states so I can get it right.

I WANTED TO CHANGE MY DRIVING LICENCE TO PORTUGUESE ONE, WHICH THEY DEMAND BY PORTUGUESE LAW. OK. I CAME HERE FROM ALBUFEIRA TO CHANGE MY DRIVING LICENCE AND ASKED THEM WHAT KIND OF DOCUMENTS ARE NEEDED TO CHANGE. VERY RUDE STAFF, THEY CANNOT EXPLAIN PROPERLY. THE WORKERS IN WORKING HOURS ON THE CHAIR IN FRONT OF ME EATING SWEETS AND DRIVING A TEA. SO SHE TOLD ME: YOU NEED TO BRING THIS THIS THIS AND THIS AND 30 EUROS .OK! I BROUGHT EVERYTHING ON 24th OF MAY 2018.... SHE RECEIVED Everything, I PAID 30 EUROS AND SHE SAID WAIT ONE OR TWO MONTHS, WE WILL CALL YOU, AND I SAID OKAY. AFTER THAT NO PHONE CALL NO EMAIL NO SMS, NO MAIL BY CTT. NOTHING! SERVICE IS COMPLETELY DESCAUSTING. AND ONLY IN OCTOBER 2018 I RECEIVED AN ENVELOPE. WHEN I OPENED ENVELOPE,,, THERE WRITTEN YOU MUST BRING A COPY OF YOUR RESIDENCE..... F**K ... WHY DON'T YOU TELL THIS FROM THE BEGINNING? ONLY AFTER FOUR MONTHS. OK I BROUGHT A COPY OF MY RESIDENCE AND ASKED THAT'S IT? NOTHING ELSE... SHE SAID NO THAT'S IT.... YOU CAN WAIT FEW DAYS. OK CHAO. FEW WEEKS WAITING, NOTHING .SILENCE. I DESIDED TO MAKE A PHONE CALL. AND WHEN I MADE A PHONE CALL ALMOST 10 TIMES PER DAY, NO ANSWER. AND CAME AGAIN FROM ALBUFEIRA TO FARO IMTT TO ASK WHAT HAPPENED. AAAA YOU MUST PAY ANOTHER 30 EUROS FOR THE EXAME. F**K. WAITING FOR GIVING AN EXAME 7 MONTH. THEY GAVE ME A PAPER THAT I CAN DRIVE, BUT NOT WORK ON UBER. BECAUSE UBER DEMAND AVERBAMENTO GRUPPO 2 .....AND NOW BECAUSE OF THESE UNEDUCATED PEOPLE I AM WESTING MY TIME FOR NOTHING. THE RATE IS ZERO ZERO ZERO. 9 MONTHS ALREADY. THEY WORK LIKE IN 19th CENTURY.... SHAME

Terrible service. They are rude unhelpful individuals who would never be employed in many other countries. First rule of a customer service role is to respect customers, they ultimately pay your wages! Sad thing is, they really do think they are special and superior to the rest of us mere mortals. Come on Portugal, you have a beautiful country with many wonderful people. Start employing people in these roles who actually want to be helpful

Aguardando há DEZ meses por uma simples troca de carta de condução e já caminhando para DOIS meses aguardando o documento do veículo. Um dos piores serviços públicos do país. O atendimento, apesar de não ser mal educado, é evasivo e sem respostas conclusivas. E, para coroar tudo isso, o órgão é acobertado pelos meios de comunicação e pelos serviços de proteção ao consumidor. Nem no Brasil temos um serviço tão ruim. E olhe que o Brasil é famoso pela má qualidade dos serviços públicos. Perto do IMT (e alguns outros) o Brasil é uma Suíça.

Não sei para que tem o telefone disponível na pagina deles, eles nao atendem... é o terceiro dia que estou a tentar ligar e com mais de 50 chamadas por dia. Triste o serviço deles

The IMT facility in Faro serves the whole of the Algarve and is woefully understaffed and ill equipped to deal with the demand for the services it is required to provide. At any given time there are between 40 and 60 people waiting for assistance. There are only 6 staff to deal with this onslaught. There is only a single public toilet in this building. My wife has waited 11 + months for an exchange of drivers license. The staff do their best but they are completely overwhelmed by the demand for their services. The failure of the government of Portugal to address this situation is a national disgrace and needs to be rectified as quickly as possible. It makes Portugal look like a third world country.

Opening times 9-16, this line was already at 8.30. They do not answer the phone, you have to deal with your problems eye to eye. If you Want to be in the beginning of the line come at least at 7.00

went there yesterday afternoon and was pleasantly surprised. After all the horror stories about lines and angry people, I was given a ticket by a very friendly man and helped within the hour by nice and efficient ladies. A very good experience changing my license to a Portuguese one and pretty quick! thanks

Much improved experience at the IMT office in Faro today. The receptionist ensures that everyone has the right ticket. The waiting time was much reduced. Only one person is allowed to be at the desk when it's their turn and the staff now also speak English. Although the queue before 9am was quite long, I was finished by 9:45am. After having a coffee nearby I noticed that there was practically no queue at 10am.

My husband and I had heard many awful stories about the IMT at Faro...we actually dreaded the thought of going and kept postponing our visit. We arrived at 12 and were advised which counter we needed to process the exchange of our driving licences. 30 minutes later my husband was attended to and I was seen to shortly after. The whole experience took just under 50 minutes and the English speaking staff were friendly and professional. Thank you to the 2 ladies who dealt with us...they certainly deserve a recommendation.

I visited IMT today and things were a lot better as regards waiting time than earlier in the year. I got there at 8 am, and when it opened got G 04 ticket. Although I did it in Portuguese as I need the practice, the lady giving out tickets could speak English. I needed to visit as the guia they gave me on my licence exchange application is only valid for 6 months and mine was going to run out. They renewed it for a year ! Hope the Portuguese licence arrives before that. Knowing how busy they are, why don't they make these guia valid for at least 9 months to save applicants and staff time. As I need a licence to drive in other countries I bought an International one from the Portuguese equivalent of the AA which it turned out was also valid only for the Iength of the guia, so that has also had to be renewed and paid for. Reasons given for the long delays were because of Brexit exchanges, but in my limited experience during my visits to IMT there have been more nationals from other countries in the EU exchanging than British ones.

A national disgrace indeed. Bureaucracy at its best. What a joke of procededures when you live in the digital age and the services ask you to fill endless forms from 50 years ago. Beyond believe. Make sure you cancell all your plans for the day ahead because you gonna spend the most of it there...and be prepared for after all that time waiting they tell you they can't solve anything because..."the law says" you must fill a missing paper that nobody told you about or whatever burocratic excuse they will throw at you, when it's all about filling forms they make it look like you are applying for the job of your life since there is so many boxes to tick to have anything done. Enjoy the ride.
