I took an online Portuguese course with Lusa Language School in April 2020. I was extremely pleased with the course, and the teacher was both competent and funny. I would just like to emphasize some of the things which I think are especially good: 1. The teacher fairly distributes time among students. 2. The course has a good mix between grammar and vocabulary/oral training. 3. I like that the teacher gives out small assignments as home work which he corrects before the next lesson.

Lusa language school is highly recommended! I just finished a series of lessons with Lusa Language School and I can report that my individual teacher was very dedicated, passionate and caring. She meet my needs respectfully at my (low-) mastery level and provided positive and effective encouragement. My teacher Rute, is an asset and should I need more lessons in the future I will be sure to ask for her. I started here with zero Portuguese and I could already speak and understand in 3 weeks! They placed me in a false beginner class as I had a background in Spanish which was simply perfect as an A1.1 class would be too slow for me. Their method of teaching is amazing. They make sure you are pronouncing words correctly. A lot of communication exercises. The classes were intensive but also light and fun. Obrigada Ana e Raquel!

Lusa School This school is definately overrated. The quality of the classes, teachers, staff and materials didn't meet my best expectations (on the contrary), considering their online reviews. Portuguese language is not my first second language and this wasn't a good experience. I changed to another top rated school in Lisbon, and it is not comparable! This new school is great and their online feedback is according to their top quality service.

I had a great time on the intensive course at Lusa School, the teaching was really good and everyone was very friendly. Classes went at the students' pace and the teachers were always happy to answer questions or explain things again. My host, Ana, was really kind and welcoming. A great introduction to Lisbon and Portuguese culture as well as the language. The whole experience was brilliant, would highly recommend :)

Taken 2 intensive courses here, was very happy with both and will return for more. I find the intensive courses to be a really good kick start up to the next level and would highly recommend. Also very impressed with the teachers - Every one I've had has been great, really friendly and able to work at a good pace.

Ho studiato presso Lusa in due occasioni diverse, frequentando entrambe le volte un corso intensivo (e delle lezioni individuali). Le classi sono organizzate in piccoli gruppi, e per ogni livello (A1, A2, ecc.) esistono ulteriori suddivisioni: ciò fa sì che ogni studente sia assegnato alla classe adeguata, e che possa seguire la lezione e interagire con l’insegnante e gli altri alunni sentendosi a proprio agio. Ho apprezzato particolarmente la professionalità e la disponibilità dei professori e di tutto lo staff della scuola, che sono sempre riusciti a stimolare il mio interesse per la lingua e mi hanno assistito in ogni momento del mio soggiorno in città (aiutandomi a trovare un alloggio, consigliandomi quali attrazioni turistiche vedere e molto altro). La scuola organizza inoltre delle attività extra-scolastiche serali volte a riunire studenti di classi diverse, insegnanti e staff in un contesto informale e divertente per scoprire insieme la cultura portoghese e mettere in pratica tutto quello che è stato appreso in classe. Gostei de todos os momentos passados em Lusa e, se dovessi tornare a Lisbona, non esiterei a seguire un altro corso in questa scuola. Consigliatissima!

I've been taking classes with Lusa since September. Portuguese is difficult but the teachers at Lusa are great and always take the time to explain. There's a great social aspect to the school as well- there's an activity every Friday if you want to go along. I can't recommend them enough :)

Teachers are all really friendly, approachable and professional. I particularly liked if they recognise someone would benefit by changing classes they'll suggest the change quickly and felt they had your best interests at heart. If you are just visiting, the operations staff go above and beyond to try to make your stay as enjoyable as possible and the activities are a great way to see different sides of the city and practise what you have learned.

Incredibly kind, helpful and cooperative staff, excellent teachers and generally a warm, welcoming atmosphere. I can only recommend Lusa Language School to anyone interested in learning Portuguese. I took their Skype classes and they were top-notch, and definitely as flexible as promised!

I spent two months studying Portuguese at Lusa Language School. My goal was to pass the CIPLE official Portuguese exam (A2 level). By the end of my stay, I already had a B1 level, which exceeded my expectations. From the very beginning I was very happy at Lusa Language School. Rita was very attentive and responsive, and replied to all my question really quickly. On top of this, the location was very good (very close to the metro station), the place is new, and I really enjoyed the environment. Every Friday we would have dinner together and we would go for drinks afterwards, a great opportunity to meet new people and make friends. I must highlight the teacher Ana Sarah, probably the best language teacher I have had in my life. She really encouraged us to learn and study, while she made the classes enjoyable.

I took a 1 week course/ 4hours/day and loved it. I wanted to do more! My teacher was excellent, all the staff was friendly and personable and I learned enough to get started. I can't wait to come back....

I had an amazing time at Lusa ! I spent only 5 weeks of intensive courses and went from a complete beginner to a B1b level = I can now have conversation and actually construct sentences in Portuguese :) The teachers were all super friendly and goal focused - they personalize their class to get you to the next level ASAP. The supporting staff is also AMAZING = they help you efficiently with all the empathy you need when abroad... it was a major plus for this experience. Last - location location location = next to the train/train/metro and the historical center !! I loved it

LUSA was definitely the best language school i have ever attended, not only for the extensive knowledge and the the teaching way of the teachers but also for the availability and the nice behaviour of the whole staff working in there. The school really cares about the student and it wants to integrate him/her within the social network of this wonderful city, so that you even feel an higher motivation to learn Portuguese! The staff enjoys hanging out with the students and sharing experiences! Classes are given in small groups so that learning is much more effective and quick. The school is well located, easy to reach both by feet and with public means. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who wants to learn Portuguese by enjoying the Lisbon's lifestyle and to anyone who is willing to move to Portugal to start a new chapter of life! In one month, i made so many friendships! Obrigado LUSA! I shall be back one day!

My girlfriend (she is Polish) did a 2 weeks course and she was really disappointed with the quality of the school considering their Google feedback/rate. The teacher had lack of skills, no structure, and the atmosphere wasn't good! She went to another school that is also highly rated online and now she is super happy. The new school is by far better (teaching quality, cultural activities, family atmosphere) and all the staff is very professional (it is in line with their amazing online rating).

I totally recommend Lusa School. I'm Spanish. I did not know Portuguese at all and end up being able to have a basic conversation in just 2 weeks of intensive summer course, thanks to Ana! The staff in the school is very helpful and flexible, which makes your stay very comfortable :) About the residence, I recommend the one in Chiado. Even it's older than the other one, it's very well situated if you are new in the city. I went everywhere by walk. It's clean and if yiu ask for a room that does not face the street, you will sleep as a baby (just keep in mind you won't have nice views). Thank you for everything and see you next time! I just finished the part-time A2.2 course in Lusa Language School with Inês and cannot recommend Lusa enough. Inês had a great way of communicating concepts to the group and always created a comfortable learning environment. Communication from the administration of the school was also perfect. I did not get to participate in any of the extra-curricular activities but it seemed like Lusa has a nice variety. I cannot wait to take my next course.

Had the pleasure of taking intensive individual immersion classes with Rute at the Lusa School in Lisbon. As an expat recently moved to Portugal, this is the perfect place to dive into the language and the city of Lisbon itself with tours and activities they offer during the week. Ich war absolut zufrieden sowohl mit der sehr freundlichen und kompetenten Art wie mit meiner Anfrage umgegangen wurde als auch mit dem Unterricht an sich. Ich konnte kein Wort Portugiesisch zu Beginn der Woche und am Ende unseres Aufenthalts habe ich mit dem Taxifahrer eine einfache Unterhaltung geführt. I spent four hours a day during two weeks in Lusa Language School taking the intensive course. Although I had studied portuguese in Sweden before I was zero when it came to the spoken language, so my aim was to be able to understand spoken portuguese and to start to talk. I picked this school only because it had a nice feeling to the website and they (Miriam) answered the chat in a very positive and encouraging way and continued to answer my e-mails in the same way. My gut feeling was confirmed as I arrived the first day. The athmosphere at school is very friendly and encouraging and the teachers and staff manage to transfer that to the students. Thank you Alice for creating a true learning environment in the class room where everyone not only started to speak, but dared to stretch their limits and where we had a lot of fun. You are a super teacher and it is because of you I managed to fulfil my purpose. Thanks to the support team that made everything around seem very easy, because we never had any problem. Central with great teachers. The study groups are small enough that you can truly study at your pace. I strongly recommend it and I will be definitely going back to progress with my language skills I strongly recommend it - everyone is lovely!

The teachers here are just awesome! I took a two week intensive course and then an evening course twice a week. During the intensive course we were only three people which was really intense and very effective. The twice a week course had 6-7 people and was obiously less intense but still a very reasonable group size and I felt I got good results. I am continuing courses at Lusa School and can highly recommend it. Awesome teachers, good group sizes, nice location, modern rooms and equipment and of course, free coffee. The school also offers many activities, so it definitely never gets boring.

I had a great experience learning portuguese at LUSA. It's cozy, very close to Cais and the staff was super nice. The class composition itself was excellent. Finally, special mention for the the teacher, Claudia who does really a great job making everything entertaining and clear.

Fantastic place to learn Portuguese. I spent several months improving my Portuguese and meeting people from different countries and backgrounds which it helped me during my time at Lusa School. It goes without saying that I would suggest this school for new comers in Lisbon, in particular its located in the heart of the city.

I had a great experience at Lusa, my teacher was not only qualified but also very friendly and willing to adjust the lessons to the students' expectations and interests. Which sometimes meant to have an outdoor class on the next-door esplanada :) The school also accepted to reschedule some lessons to fit to my agenda so I definitely recommend Lusa.

A wonderful language school. I found that the teachers put extra care to cater for every pace of learner. Classes were quite small and intimiate, so no one was left behind - and this made learning much more effective. It's also in a fantastic location - so great for after school hanging out!

I have tried different language schools, and Lusa is absolutely especial! The classes are quite small, so every student can get enough time to practice, and the course can be designed based on the needs of individual student. Students are also allowed to borrow books from the school. The staff are always kind and helpful. Every month the school organizes social events to let students and some teachers know each other. The price is also competitive considering the size of the class and hours.

I warmly recommend this school. Fantastic teachers and support staff who make sure you are getting the best out of your time there. Very good value for money and best investment you could make if you are serious about learning Portuguese.

I definitely recommend the school, as if I had an amazing learning experience there. My teacher was the teacher I always dreamed of: warmhearted, open and competent. And! very patient:) We learned Portugues quite fast in a very sympatic group with many interacting parts during the lessons (between the students) and in the breaks (with Portugues), that we usually spend together in different cafes around. Im also very satisfied with the supervision and the space. Everybody were always very friendly and supportive . And not to forget: the location is adorable! U are so close to the river and u have many cool different cafes around. After some classes I went to the river to relax on the stairs in the sun- was amazing. Im very happy to have chosen Lusa, so I will continue to take further classes there. Thank u guys for this great experience <3
